Sometimes you run into people you barely know and for the 10-15 minutes you have to deal with them they continuously act...dumb. Not to be mean or anything. And from that interaction we assume all future interactions will be the same.

It's usually not even them being "dumb" so much as lacking SOOO much common sense you have to think of them as dumb. And ignorance, the ones whose opinion is truth and everyone else is wrong. I see a lot of those too. I don't consider them inferior, I do find sadness in the matter that they're not thinking right or just too closed minded to consider what others have to say.

No, they are not dumb, it is just that you do not understand their thought process at that particular time. If you would actually take the time to get to know them and their perspective on things, you will either see that they are right or wrong. Just because they are wrong does not make them a dumb person, they just haven't had the same experiences as you have in order to see the truth, it doesn't mean that they are incapable of ever thinking the right way, you just need to give them a chance to learn. If they are unwilling to learn, just ignore them or work them through their psychological problems to help them reach their full potential, there is no need to call them dumb.

I've mixed feelings about this.

I spent an hour last week fighting with a girl who wanted to bring her food into the microbiology lab. An hour over a small hunk of sandwich that she finished while we were arguing but she got kicked entirely out of class because of it. She would not comprehend that within that lab they culture ecoli and other nasty stuff and she couldn't make a connection I was trying to save her from a dangerous situation. She was planning on being part of the medical community and yet she wasn't making a connection on how food should not be in a lab with things that can make you very ill.

Or a guy I fought with because he didn't have the proper protective wear for a lab in which he was dealing with extremely potent acids and he went and reported me to the admins who sided with me - no one goes in a lab without protective wear.

Again, I don't see these people as inferior, but I do see them as dumb because they're willing to blatantly toss their safety out of a window and try to get me to side with them. But that's my view, I suppose it angers me a bit when I look out for someone who fights tooth and nail to do whatever they want anyway.

I don't know, ask lordseth23.
Talking to him killed half of my brain cells.

I think that if you knew these people better you would be able to figure out why they are acting this way. If you talked to them long enough, you would be able to convince them of why they should follow these procedures.

if you talked to them long enough you would begin to lose brain cells. and in the end you would condone whatever dumb things they say or do.

I bite my tongue and speak very slowly and concisely. That's the best way to deal with dumb people, or as I like to call them "customers".

I know how you feel, they really baffle me. They put themselves in danger like using their wheelchairs/mobility scooters yet they run over people's feet, they crash into displays. Even had one nearly run through the window, at which point I ran from till to push her scooter to a halt.
They only went and swore at me for stopping them leaving through the door. They then realised they were wrong, didn't apologise, yet you knew they had soiled themselves.

Even had someone have a go at me, because I told her off for not reporting to us on the mess she made. She even tried hiding the bottle she broke. She just shrugged at the fact she could have injured/killed someone with the mess she left! I'd like to know how these people have lived this long without killing themselves or anyone else for that matter.

I've seen all sorts in my town. I've seen things you'd expect in movies/shows to which you think no human being would be so ignorant or dumb. Sadly I now know there are those dumb enough to do anything.

I don't deny loving the moments I put the fear in them. I.E. had someone open up a lipstick & mascara, right in front of me & she tells me we've always had testers. I then have to talk to her like a child, explaining that if we did have testers, then flus/viruses and even hiv could be spread. I've never seen the colour drain from a face that fast after that bombshell. Call me evil, but I love it when you show them just how dumb they just were yet you're not insulting them, you're doing the right thing in which they can't argue back.

Even had several men spraying body-sprays/deos claiming the vapour gets sucked back into the aerosols. To which a colleague of mine said: If that's the case, why do you need a new one?
Took them 5 minutes to process that statement, to which the threw the cans and shuffled their way out of the shop. Their walking out however made them even more stupid, since their trousers kept falling down, due to their shuffling.

I could go on for hours with the people I've dealt with 1st hand as well as those I've witnessed. It's just mind boggling how they're so ready to injure themselves & others, yet they get away with it because they're so stupid. These people are not safe to anyone, they shouldn't be raising children or venturing in public places. I know it sounds like I'm taking away their freedom but they cause so much harm to others yet show no understanding or responsibility for their destructive/endangering acts.

Oh, well didn't take the time to read the full thread before I posted that. Either way it's a good quote.

I worked with someone with a severe stupidity for five years until just recently. He worked here for 17 years before they finally dropped him. He would be told, every Wednesday in a meeting, what he did wrong, and within two weeks, do the same thing, the same way, yet again. He hemorrhaged money from this company. I couldn't believe it took them 17 years, and it makes me fear for the intelligence of my employers.
