Vandrian wrote: Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide This is a fun anime, but its explanation of the necessity of war for geopolitical growth and stabilization is scarier than cow tongue lollipops. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_economic_expansions_in_the_United_States What usually happens (as opposed to what they explained). 1) Large wars often produce unprecedented demands on industry and national workforce 2) This increased demand leads to price increases. Commodity prices can rise to over 100% Food, Healthcare, and anime 3)This often creates profiteering networks like our energy sector 4)The government will then put into effect price controls and perhaps rationing (food, healthcare, raw materials [metal for air craft carriers ] etc.).5) Price controls can mess up your "free market" ideals and your net exports vs imports. Also Unions can become more pronounced to try to balance government and economic mandates. 6) Conscription and increased workforce demand place stress on families this psychology feeds back into the economy into paying off of debt, saving money instead of spending it etc. 7) This can mean the government gets less taxes (definitely State taxes on commodities). OR just borrows 8 days a week from China... 8) Government sometimes takes over essential industries (power, transportation, metal, energy etc). Once the war ends these can be propped up, maybe gracefully restructured (good luck), or just fall apart. 9) Not really expecting anyone to make it to point 9... but if you are reading this, I love you <3 just take a look at what's happened to america in the past 70 years since the end of WW2. there's a reason the 50's were known as a "golden age", as opposed to now when we're in a very deep recession. it's kind of a bitter pill to swallow, but war is great for the economy, and since we haven't had any real wars in a long time, we've just been slowly sliding down that so-called fiscal cliff while struggling to get a footing. |

for the first episode, this were rather disappointing. If i wanted to i could re-edit the episode so it would be way better.
And for those that don't know, this story was originated as a J.Novel. Many manga publisher took notice it and created their own version of the story. Then into anime like most anime have done. |

Political, environmental, war, murder, greed, religion, economics, ethics, ignorance and hatred. This anime references just about every real life issue of the 21st century. All in one episode! I never thought I'd see the day.

No way near a spice and wolf reprise. and then i took a one -two punch to the funny bone... "Just pretend you never saw that"... "I... I'll try." --- Poip! "Those come OFF!!??" Hey! Where did you find my notes on what I was going to say! :) This is going to be a fun show to watch. |

(also Bush has been out of power for over four years. and you don't have to be a gay hippie to dislike the war in Iraq) |

You can say similar things about the period between WW1 & WW2. The economic forces described apply to all sorts of nations, not just the US. And if anyone wants to watch another funny take on the same theme, watch the movie "Canadian Bacon". |

I definitely loved this first episode, mainly because I enjoyed the explanation of the economics and shady deals behind the war. It's nice to see it is not a cookie cutter, clean cut, good vs. evil war. My only problem is that I am so exhausted with characters like Hero who are overly embarrassed / shocked / shy...when they are met with a "mildly" sexually suggestive situation.

Compared to the manga they put a little less effort into the economic reasoning, but the scene change and overall composition in the first anime episode was imho better than in the manga. The artwork was undeniable more generic than in the manga. In the manga Maou has a more sexy touch (in the straight sense) whereas the anime heads over to moe (I won't complain, just a statement).
A good start. I hope this will continue / improve. |

Agreed, most guys would be more than willing to help check her for more birthmarks... |
