I want to like Cowboy Bebop because people are calling it a classic and there are so many episodes (i like long stuffs), but I can't get into it. I'll try it again when I run out of things to watch.

But then again, people are also calling DBZ a classic... so...

Cowboy Bebop is one of the most perfect anime ever created.

But the first four episodes are a bit flippant.

If you have trouble getting into it try episodes 5 and 6, Ballad of Fallen Angels and Symphony for the Devil.

Shugo Chara - Highly rated and very popular, but I couldn't get through pass episode 10. Though the relationship between the skinny violin playing mysterious cat guy and pink haired girl was interesting, but I couldn't handle all the self esteem issues lol.

One Piece and Bleach. Naruto and Death Note.

Excel Saga and Angelic Layer. I really wanted to like Excel Saga because I liked the character designs, heard good things about it, and liked the premise, but couldn't truly like it enough to get past episode 4. It was way too random. The puchuus were out of nowhere, Nabeshin made no sense in the context of the story, and I didn't get how Hyatt kept coming back to life after supposedly dying. I really wanted to like it, but couldn't. I do like the manga, though. XD. It's all that I wanted the anime to be. And I think that the dying thing is in there, but it's not as prominent.
Angelic Layer was another one I wanted to like. I loved CLAMP (I say loved because I dislike everything new they've come out with aside from Kobato and maybe Gate 7), loved the manga, thought the premise was great, and I loved the character designs. I thought that the anime was going to follow the manga, and maybe add some things to the characters like the anime version of Rayearth did.
It did add some minor things to the characters, but I remember it being boring, and not caring about the plot. I think I even fell asleep during it once, which NEVER happens to me. Strangely, though, despite not liking it, I still listen to the character songs regularly, and the opening/ending songs. ^^;

Tiger and Bunny it's not a bad show I just find it boring, maybe because I grew up on western superhero comics and got into anime/manga because I was tired of them.

Hero Tales
Read the manga and liked it alright but it was really short and I kind of wished that they spend more time getting to know the character. But the anime, which did do that, is really boring and I just kept thinking get on with it already!

Kids on the Slope
The directing and music are both great and the animation during the jam sessions are really well done, but that story.... I could stand all the love triangles and the not so subtle homoerotic undertones of the show were really distracting, it would have been better if they just made the two male leads gay.

This week, I had time to rewatch Cowboy Bebop up to episode 11... and I don't think it's my type of anime.

It's episodic instead of having a bigger story...

^ For some reason I've been on the fence for a while on watching this anime. All I ever hear about it is amazing things (besides your post lol) so I thought I was crazy. I just never got the urge to watch it. Love triangles make me go so I would probably get irritated by this show.

You never heard anything bad about it really? I have heard many people make basically make the same completes about the show as me. I think it may just be that most people don't want to say anything bad about it because of it's pedigree (like how most won't say anything bad about any Miyazaki film).

The whole thing wraps up in the end though; ultimately it's all Spike's story. You get clues about him from every episode, and it accelerates into an intense final arc. I might've oversold it a little bit though; it's wrong to push anyone into anything with ridiculously high expectations. If episodes 5 and 6 didn't hook you you're probably save putting it down.

Edit: It's really hard to say that about your favorite anime of all time.
