One Piece.

To be fair I have at least watched the first 5 collections of it, but...I can't seem to get hooked.

Same here, and I don't usually care enough about the opinions of others to essentially try and force myself to like something I really don't...

Sword Art Online - The first episode of this had me stoked. I was expecting there to be like intricate stories about the adventures and relationships of characters stuck in this MMO and perhaps some unfolding mystery. What it turned out to be was the abridged version of some 14 year old kid somehow being not only the strongest character, but also the smartest, and most attractive to women. I was like, wtf happened to that great writing in the first episode to turn this into something where the whole friggin world revolves around one guy who can do no wrong. As much as I hate most of the characters in Accel World, I would have to say that was much better written than SAO.

Guilty Crown.

I love the music but... it is so far nothing but a series of asspulls.

Oh and another thing that annoyed me in the episodes I've muscled through is.

Right now, for me, it's Red Data Girl. I think this is more of an intelligence problem though....I just don't seem to understand the plot??? I'm tearing my hair out trying to understand some of its too subtle innuendos.

Psycho-Pass: I don't hate it, in fact I think it's pretty good, but I'm halfway through and I'm just like, "I could watch Psycho-Pass...or I could...do something else...". It's been that way for a couple weeks.

Angel Beats! Pretty much the same deal as Psycho-Pass. Only replace "weeks" with "years".

Sword Art Online: Yep, that lasted about, oh, fifteen minutes. Yeah, that's right, I disliked SAO before it was cool.

If I don't love it I probably don't want to love it. The only reason I could see myself possibly wanting to love it is if I had read and loved the manga and I thought the anime wasn't keeping up to its standard, or I really badly wanted to share in a friends love for a certain show I disliked. I'm not so nice though, so I'm usually pretty brutal about how I feel when a friend asks if I want to watch Fairy Tale with him.

Ahh...I absolutely cannot refuse the opportunity to defend Guilty Crown so here I go. At your first spoiler box...

And at the second spoiler box...

It's been too long for me to accurately remember the first box, but I agree with the second.

Even with tentative explanations that doesn't make them any less of asspulls in my eyes. They are all highly convenient and happen conveniently right when they need to. This god-like convenience is a giant turn off to me. He doesn't learn to become stronger or better his magic injection of "kings power" does it all for him.

I can agree I suppose with the part about Kyo though. Still it was a stupid scene because he was 3 feet from her and miraculously fine while she was on deaths door?

I know this may sound like heresy but I can't stand DB or DBZ for the life of me even though I really want to like it.

Well...yeah...the kings power is like the whole point of the anime. Without it he would have died in episode one...

Could you elaborate on the unrealistic conveniences? It's pretty difficult to throw curve ball at a human who possess nearly limitless combat potential, which in all technicalities, Shu basically is at the point he gets the Void Genome and as stated, is sort of the point of the anime.

You could say every shounen hero conveniently gains the power to beat their next arcs main antagonist. Every romcom's female lead conveniently falls in love with the male lead. The earth conveniently provides a wonderful habit for human existence. Everything is freaking convenient if you really want to put it that way. Zensunni actually has a pretty good outlook on this type of thing that he spoke about in the Gargantia thread (despite us being in disagreement specifically about Gargantia, because Gargantia's case in particular I feel is a fault of weak creativity). Every show at one point is a script. That means everything that happened was written in as happening already. That means nothing can be random. It is all convenient because it has no choice but to be convenient.

Point being, you can't really judge a show based on how convenient things seem unless they are ridiculously absurd conveniences, things that might break the 4th wall or something. I don't see anything convenient about Shu using the power he was given in episode 1 to his advantage...I guess you could argue that the right void always seems to be available at the right time...
