Between the events of this episode and groups like Black Phantom and the Normal People you can almost feel that Hyobu is completely justified and right in his crusade.

This series has done a great job of creating a well defined set of characters and really fleshing out Hyobu's mentality and point of view.

The definition of Villain depends on what side of the line you are standing on.

Third Act comes to a close today and the final act begins,

our Knights have a princess to rescue

Here's a question: Will Andy now join PANDRA for real this time? I think that the others of PANDRA would be willing to forgive his betrayal if Hyoubu does. Hyoubu himself doesn't seem very angry at Andy himself. He could have easily killed Andy, but he didn't. He seems to think of him a poor foolish pawn who was taken in by the USEI and used to do their bidding. Which, in reality he was.

Poor Andy, he ended up getting betrayed by his superior much in the way Hyoubu was--with a lethal bullet. However, I guess it was all needed to make him see the light.

And who is the guy pulling the strings here. Hyoubu seems to know him and associates him with his own past. Some are suggesting that its Black Phantom, while others are saying that its Captain Saotome. And with the shot of the glinting glasses, with a man with a similar hairstyle to the evil captain, I would lean towards Saotome. But they have to explain how that guy lived through being torn up by Hyobu and how he is now not dead since he's not an esper, and would have to be in his latter 90s by now!

The Manga has actually suggested Saotome is alive.

Fujiko made a reference to "forgiving, unforgivable people" as part of the unpleasant things she had to do when she was trying to make BABEL

The thing is, how the heck did that guy survive?!

He's extra old, and got completely eviscerated with blood and guts going everywhere! He wasn't an esper or anything, so what's going on?

Also, as to her "forgiving unforgivable people" probably has something to do with the big wigs in the military who actually orchestrated the downfall of the ESP Unit and gave the orders for the deaths of the other ESP members. It is obviously inferred in that confrontation between the captain and Hyoubu that the others of the ESP team had been all killed via foul play, probably to keep them out of the hands of the enemy.

Never mind, I just confirmed it for myself. It is
. Murderous snake!

After ANN credited his character with making an appearance in this episode, I checked it, comparing the kanji in the credits against that of the official website's cast/characters. And guess whose name showed up?

Ughhhhh! I hate him!! Poor Kyousuke...

Fujiko is a bitch...

well what do you expect from a woman? she betray her friends/comrade, and her brother.

But hey things didn't turn out too bad for Kyosuke, so his original friends died. At least he became like the dean of a cruise ship.

They have done a great job with this series I do hope we get to see PANDRA totally cut loose in the next episode or two.

Would love to get a second season of this, alternatively a new season of Zettai Karen with some of the same feel as this show. The Manga dose get darker as the girls grow older and they could do a lot with the Middle School Arcs.

The original anime takes place about 3 years before this and centers around the Children when they were 10 years old. The Anime also lightens things up a little bit from the manga (EX:A Murderer in the Manga becomes a costumed vigilante who punishes bad guys at random in the Anime). The adults in the series go to considerable effort to shelter the girls from the dark side of things but you do see signs of it from time to time.

At present the Manga has the girls at around 13, and they are still somewhat sheltered from the Dark side of the world though it has been creeping closer and they are not entirely as naive as they were at 10. They know the world can get bad but they don't quite realize how ugly it can get (not even Shiho)

Unlimited takes place right in the middle of the dark side of the world. Hyobu and the higher ups of PANDRA live in the dark side.

The Tone of things between the original Anime, The Manga and Unlimited are quite different from each other with the Present day Manga being the nice middle ground.
