No you do not.

I suppose I will elaborate just a bit more. It wouldn't make sense to require permission to put out a review of something because then the creator would have the ability to only let positive reviews get out about their product or creation. The only permission you need to put a review in a magazine is from the person who controls the content of the magazine. Also the review would be your opinion which the creator would not own and thus have no say over. As long as you keep the review factual when it isn't currently your opinion you won't run into any legal issues like slander and libel either.

You do not require permission to write a review.

In most countries/territories, copyright laws have fair use provisions. This allows you to include (to various degrees) samples of the original work in your review. In English, that means you can include screenshots or short video clips from the anime (within reason) without seeking permission from the original author.

The copyright holder does not have the right to stop you from doing this if you conform to local laws.

Disclaimer: I am not a lawyer, merely someone familiar with the matter.

as long as it provides constructive criticism and isn't libelous, you're good to go.

Of course not.

In the world of reviewing, obviously this isn't that big of a deal because you can have any idiot with a webcam and access to YouTube review anything. The real issue lies with reviewing something you have not directly observed, like not playing a game, or not watching an anime and reviewing it... Providing an opinion of something you know little to nothing about is not just pretentious, but flat out ignorant.

Not necessarily, unless you want to include screenshots of the game and show images of their work then perhaps.

But otherwise no personal threads allowed please. Use Google-sama next time.
