^ LOL. Good one, Thrashbar!

Used to save all the friend and love letters from relationships past. Now that I'm happily married I converted these post reminders from paper form to a gaseous state (conversion of mass). The memories that mattered are still stored in my head; the remainder are gone forever to protect the innocent.

Basement is full of stuff. 95% is mine. When we moved here United Van Lines weighed the mass at approximately 28K lbs. With the exception of the 2 vehicles not hauled we only need 5 K lbs of household items. My wife worries I'll die first. Silly woman doesn't realize she'll have the largest and best 1/64 scale diecast semi-truck collection in the county as well as enough stripped PCC streetcar parts (roll sign holders, destination signs dating back to the early '40's, farebox, trolley bells, headlights, MG set, brass trolley wheels, carbon shoes, builders plates), switch keys, turn of the century railroad franks (aka passes), books, 300 Logan boxes of 35mm original color slides of trains and streetcars, bus memorabilia to franchise a transit museum.

Oh, yeah, don't forget all this anime and the respective figurines. We have no heirs to hand it down to and 12/21/2012 sure didn't resolve anything. Sheeeeeesh, the task of redistributing those years of accumulating before I get senile is daunting. I'm celebrating year 7 and counting downsizing.

This spring I plan to paint on the roof in large white letters the word "HERE" so tornadoes know where to strike next. Ebay just isn't up to the task.

Dad... Is that you?

A broken music box. It was the best gift I ever received and I used to think it was magical. I hold onto a lot of silly things I guess, anything with sentimental value.

I'm a minimalist. all I got is a flat screen with roku. and Ubuntu box with 2 monitors..... A dog... some art and vases I have collected from my travels through out the years... and thats it.. maybe a couple of plants.... I wouldn't want to throw my girlfriend in the trash cause I might get beat up. my trash hardly ever gets full because I empty everyday. but if I were to throw away something old and tattered, it would probably be all my baby stuff my mother just gave to me from my childhood. I'd definatly throw that away.

I sitll have my first teddy bear, my old GI Joe toys, Legos, all my R/C truck/car/planes and extra parts...some of the companies went out of business and can't get parts anymore. Then there is my book and anime collcetion...lol I do not consider myself a hoarder, but with books, my home is a black hole. They go in but they don't come out (thank goodness for my kindle)

My Sci-fi/Fantasy book collection, a 30+ year old metro token from D.C., my baby blanket (it's in good condition), my dead cat's ashes. Relax, it's in a box. She died of cancer, & I could never find a suitable place to scatter/bury them. Maybe I'll put them in a tiny urn.

I don't just not throw old stuff out I actively troll thrift stores looking for more. Just the other day I picked up a 1950s Zenith radio that played beautifully after a little TLC, didn't even need to replace the tubes. Of course there are also the Commodore VIC20's I never got around to modding into modern PCs and the old transistor radio I still haven't gotten replacement capacitors for.........

For some reason I have a hard time throwing away my old shoes. Maybe it's because when I was little, they were the only clothing item I would ever get that was brand new, so they were revered items. Even when the soles have practically fallen off and there's no way I'd ever wear them again, I still keep them around.
