Narwhal911 3005 cr points Send Message: Offline	Permalink Reply Quote Posted 1/9/13 I am beyond confused about the ending of Another I dont understand was Reiko the assistant teacher the whole time? was that ever explained? and why after the main guy kills Reiko does he call out mother? plus why were the grandparents greiving reiko when reiko was in the same room as them at points? Can they not see her? Please Explain!

Can they not see her? Please Explain! I think I can answer the first part, not 100% certain because its been a while since I've seem Another but I'm sure it goes something like this Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide yes Reiko was the assistant teacher. She was THE ONLY assistant teacher in the whole school which was the strange part. Because of the curse which erased and manipulated certain details from records and memories, no one thought that that was strange that their class had the only assistant teacher

He calls out mother because Reiko was like a mother to him because a) she took care of him b) they were very close and he ended up being forced to kill her, again. Since she already died once. The grandparents (mainly the grandfather) were grieving because they know she died, as I said before. I'm pretty sure they can see her, but deny her presence as real because like I have said, she's supposed to be dead. It's very easy to figure out and follow if you pay attention.

Can they not see her? Please Explain! Yes, Reiko was the assistant teacher the whole time. Apparently she just wanted her professional and personal life separate. He calls out 'goodbye mother' because due to his real mother dying off before he got to know her he always viewed Reiko as his 'mother figure'. Kinda makes the whole ending more sad :/ ...the rest is a little confusing for me too. This part actually seemed to be a big plot hole. Considering the fact that when the extra is added to the class memories and documents etc. are edited then why would the parents remember her death? Kinda didn't make sense but still loved this show!

Especially with the grieving, cos sometimes you think you see them as if they are still here. For some people it's hard to fully grasp that they're gone and not coming back. Also there was two different voice actresses just to hide the twist. I can't wait to re-watch this, loved the twists cos you kinda of guess where it's going but most of the time they throw you in the completely opposite direction. The scares where fantastic in this show. Really hope it comes to dvd, or even dub.

They were only burning incense for Ritsuko, from Koichi's perspective at least. At the end of the series when the truth was revealed, Koichi had flashbacks and thought about some things such as the bird Rei-chan, how it was named after the deceased Reiko, and his grandparents actually said Reiko's name along with Ritsuko's, at the altar.
