Hunter x hunter vol 5 question.

So I just recently started reading manga (3 days ago). I just bought hunter x hunter vol 1 manga in print. I enjoyed reading it very much and I was looking to get more of the series. In short im wondering why the vol 5 of hunter x hunter is running $35+ for paperback while all other vol are selling at around $10. Anyone know why this is and where I can find it for a good price? I do know I can buy digital manga, but I'd prefer physical copy of the manga over digital. If this post is not right for the forum its fine it gets moved or deleted. Was not sure where to post this but this dealt with manga so thats why.

The only way to see that volumes price go down would be if Viz decides to reprint it. I'm personally hoping they start releasing Omnibus volumes of Hunter x Hunter, but I don't know how likely that is. :< However, your best bet for a decent priced vol. 5 would be to keep your eyes on ebay. Maybe one will pop up on bid for a good price. That's how I've gotten some of my OOP volumes of other manga.

Perhaps they had a smaller amount printed than the other volumes. Eyeshield 21 has most of its volumes in print still, but about 5-7 random volumes are OOP. A lot of Manga have random volumes that are hard to get now, which is very sad. I'm hoping Viz will at least reprint those volumes of Hunter x Hunter since the 2011 anime has gained some new fans that are looking for the manga now.

Viz has become notorious for having random volumes go out of print. (Try finding certain volumes of Basara if you think Hunter X Hunter is bad). It really forces you to buy stuff as it comes out and it's problematic for people that don't buy stuff as it comes out. Another suggestion is to keep an eye on the Amazon marketplace or half.com. Sometimes sane people post reasonable prices on there too. Good luck in your search!

Got it a few years ago at a used bookstore for almost nothing. Having a similar issue with Monster though. I have the first two books, but volume 3 (as well as several other volumes) is ridiculously expensive here...
