Do you hate when your buying and people go crazy and add a high bill, rather it be out to eat or a store? Tell us a story where some one did or ran up a bill or tab. If I had allot of money I wouldn't care but lets order or get the thing that cost the most cause your buying lol.

To answer the thread title: yes. We're not rich, and neither are our friends, so we go separate checks. With family it's share the bill or the parents pay. Except for my mom, we always try to treat her.

To respond to the thread text, here's a story: I was working temp as a full-charge bookkeeper for an investment firm. A small group of us had been hired last minute to get the annual tax forms done for several investments that had been neglected for most of the year. You've got to love small businesses.

We finished on time and the company offered our group dinner at an upscale French restaurant as a bonus. Since we had had been treated very poorly by the manager of the full-time staff our manager said we could order anything we wanted. So we ordered Château Lafite Rothschild. Most expensive wine I've ever had. It was good.

I recently ended up paying for someone else's dinner because they were short. On the other hand, I tend to do the same thing to them from time to time. Jokingly asking for them to pay for me... which sometimes yields success. So it's all good.

...I still want my $23 back from our most recent excursion though.

I haven't had anyone go crazy as of yet, but it makes me imagine Quina's theme from FFIX when I think about it.

I just let people think they are paying for themselves until the very end so that kind of thing doesn't happen.

Never had anything like that happen.
My good friends are all cool people, if I buy them drinks, they'll buy some later and so on.
And I don't buy stuff for random people I don't care about.

I don't pay on dates unless I'm getting laid, on principle.

My friends are all frugal, so there's no issue there.

Not really. No one I ever go out with goes over $30, and people treat me out to eat a lot so I wouldn't mind if they brought a lot. But if they were truly being inconsiderate, that's not the type of person I'd consider a friend. And highly doubtful I'd be treating them because I hate users.

I'm very open about my financial budget when I'm out eating, so I always announce how much is in my budget for dinner and how much they can order. And my close friends like to take turns treating each other, so if they choose a high restaurant, than I get a really nice gift in return or a nice restaurant too. As of this moment, I owe two people dinner, and several gifts *sigh*

A good thing is never tell people "Order whatever you want." Take some control, or they will!

Didn't encounter people or some one like that yet

If it does, if he or she's happy of what he or she ate then i do not mind spending once or twice not always and besides i doubt it that he or she will order and eat a meal that cost 250 or 500 dollar per serving even i do not like to go to some place for i value money, i work hard for it and food like that is outrageous.

When in a date, i see to it that i pay my own. I do not want to burden the guy.

With friends, well if they want me to treat them then go eat in my place or my parents place or during pay day...COME to think of it how come my friends do not ask me to treat them hmmmp!

I always give them a limit, depending on the restaurant, how many people are with me, and whether I just got paid or not.

Normally not to bad though; never had to pay more than $60 for 6-8 people.
