Saiyuki.

Don't get me wrong. I love Saiyuki. I breath Saiyuki. I even have more than one season of the Saiyuki anime in my collection, yet the anime adaption sucks. The voice acting is horrible and so is the animation. It's seriously disappointing. The manga is way better and I tend to go back to it a lot more than I do the anime.

I love both since it's a top fav of mine, but I don't blame you. After watching Gunlock, I read the manga all the way to Reload Blast and realized that the raw violence was really compromised probably to appeal to a younger audience (I hope that isn't the case 'cause that feels like selling out). When Sanzo and Gojyo attack, their enemies bleed like crazy and/or lose their limbs, NOT disintegrate (or "faint" like in the sequels). Some nice gore involved as well. I don't mind that the anime went on a somewhat different route (Minekura's poor health is the reason why the manga is taking long to end) since the characters personalities are constant, but yeah the "almost friendly" violence (in my eyes) is the problem.

At least the content in the Burial and Gaiden OVA's were as pure as the manga, which is cool.

SAO and Campione. Neither of them follow the light novels

I'm sorry did you even read the SAO light novel? They follow it pretty well besides adding some filler in at points.

They left out some details in the anime that were in the light novels. but its understandable that the anime is limited to the details they can give due to a time limit per episode.
