I'm less concerned about animation unless its an action, Mecha, fighting, etc... kind of show. Like for instance, two other animes I would say that animation took a back seat to the story would be Maid-Sama and Kimi no Todoke. IMO, those two and Kotoura-san i'd put head to head with a lot of other animes. I'd much rather have an awesome story with not excellent animation than terrible story and awesome animation. Just my thoughts.

school girls being attack while kotoura all better yet still bit scared get manabe to stay at her place til manabe get chance with fear level on manabe over 9000 cue demon-mori to box'd manabe.
police arrive at school give asking students if any info going give kotoura read criminal's mind but can't say give got other students "HMM" on kotoura so esp idea go like scooby-doo to catch the crook.
well at kotoura's grandpa call in invite them to dinner give all formal to a small food place to really a hotel til yikes it that "mom".
give "mom" still bitter while kotoura try to show to try patch but "mom" not notice til enter manabe perv power it still show bit something within the "mom"
& oh mori in shock cause beaten school girls with blood on mori hands?!

Ep 9 was a good ep though for some reason, Manabe acting perverted in this ep was more grating than usual
And haha at motherly instincts kicking in, the both of them should just hug while crying already, I want my happy ending!

I say it'll end on a happy note, we already got through the storm of depressingness that was the first few eps haha
Depends on how you define a slice of life
If your talking strictly "normal to somewhat believable situation" plot lines that the characters get into like Tari Tari and Usagi Drop then Kotoura-san isn't a slice of life
I personally wouldn't call Kotoura-san a slice of life anime, it's just a school life romantic comedy mixed in with some drama and supernatural elements
I guess views would differ from person to person though

what gets me is you just know who started that rumor and why, as nice a girl as she is she has been manipulating things from the start. I get her reasons but this was too far.
and the betrayal of it is going to hurt everyone.

So her mum does feel something for her then? It wasn't the best catch up moment form them two after all these years.
Some funny moments in this episode as always with the series. Kotoua grandfather funny as always.
And we know who was behind the attacks after the ED.

I don't think there was any manipulation involved. I think it was those two girls overhearing Kotoura and Moritani talking and then Moritani making a scene out of it to defend Kotoura.
I think That's what started tongues wagging. and once they start rumours and bs always get worse.

My thought about the Moritani incident.
Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Moritani may have been working on cruise control if she was fighting someone off and "came to" when the perp took off and didn't realize what was happening until it was already over. |
