I'm so glad that they decided to keep the dark undertone of the series throughout instead of just being depressing the first episode and then changing into a light-hearted comedy. Manabe is also one of the more interesting male protagonists I've seen lately, I like everything about him thus far. Goofy yet reliable...my kind of guy (as in a good buddy). Agreed! Love this show, while I was looking forward to it and love the manga, the anime adaptation is amazing! Surprise favorite of the season. And agreed, I love the emotional roller coaster ride they have continued each week. Just when I think my heart has been stomped as flat as possible, they do it again. And great laughs too, and cute moments. And great characters... All from a four panel, three book (4th next month) manga! Did you get the manga from Amazon.com? Always amazon.co.jp! ![]() http://www.flickr.com/photos/hpulley/8414034333 by hpulley/me on Flickr Thanks. I just started getting manga in the past two weeks (from Amazon) because I wanted to see the continuation of Vampire Knight, D Gray Man, and Claymore. Still getting use to how different they are from comics here. It's difficult to follow at times but with more practice it'll get better. Once you get into reading the original Japanese text you will never go back to reading someone else's translations. It is much more satisfying to read what the mangaka actually wrote. Not sure I follow what you mentioned here. Are you referring to reading the manga w/o translation and in the actual Japanese language? Yes, of course! I read manga in Japanese only. No translations except in my head. |

Still learning more words every day but you can learn basic grammar in weeks or months and read with a dictionary starting soon after. Kotoura-san is seinen so it requires knowledge of kanji which takes longer or a very good kanji dictionary. Only rare characters have helper furigana readings. Josei is similar. Shonen and shojo generally have helper furigana on every kanji character so they are easier to read. Many adults read them too as they are easier to read and fun, kind of like adults reading Harry Potter, Twilight and Hunger Games which are intended as youth fiction. But I actually started with seinen anyways as it is what I was reading... |

Man i hope that this anime isn't divided into arcs, and that she will go to a new place and meet new people and you will never see manabe again.

Ep 4
Creepy grandpa is creepily funny lol So right now there's only one other major conflict/climax/plot point I see happening later on in the show, the reappearance of Kotoura's mother Nets are guaranateed to get your runaway friends back haha |

Nice episode. The Grandpa and Manabe seem like they would get along great. Been a long time since I've had butterflies in my stomach before watching an anime. Love this anime.

Another wonderful episode, great if quick adaptation of the manga which takes longer to find her than 5 seconds... Love the rapidly changing emotions.
Don't worry, lots more to come... |

Another good episode of Kotoura-San:) This was hilarious!
Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Her grandfather is a total pervert him and Manabe would be good friends though the way he asked Haruka to sit on his lap and he's talking about her ass. I was wetting myself laughing  Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Daichi would make a good hacker seriously if he can get train CCTV that easily then that would be a problem :D Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide Moritani apologising was no surprise, but it was interesting chemistry between Haruka and Moritani. Haruka didn't hold a grudge against her and Moritani saying that she can change thanks to Haruka was a nice way to end the conversation, but still not a fan of Moritani after what's happend, but she might grow on me what and see. |

After watching last episode I did consider to drop it because it felt the same thing was happening in each episode, one shock moment etc. But after episode 4 I still unsure if I should carry on or drop it ha. I did like the ending

Episode 4. I'm generally not very easily creeped out, but this tread on my comfort zone--I found creepy grandfather to be way more icky-creepy than funny-creepy. Otherwise I really enjoyed the episode.

I was starting to think that Chihayafuru would be the only new show that I'd watch this season, but I've recently discovered this and Oreshura catch my fancy quite a bit.
Good times. |

Blast reality. Burst it into shreds. Banishment...this world!

I liked this episode. Grandpa was being a bit raunchy, but I felt that comic relief was needed at that point. The atmosphere between the grandpa and granddaughter was overly serious, so the comedy was quite relieving. That and I doubt the grandpa was being overly serious. He just wanted to cheer up Kotoura in his own way (not to mention that I would probably joke about something similar if I had a fully grown granddaughter who could mindread anyways.)

I dont care if the plot is predictable I like each episode as Kotoura gets over her sadness little by little that itself is important.
