I mean, given how weird that was, I wouldn't doubt it possible that this was a one time occurrence. Though if it is I can't imagine what else the plot would be. And what's with her brother covering his head? no one knows it seems.

As for the characters , there is this weird "brother" , then there is weird thing going on everytime our main character tries to step out and when she is worked up on a thought and then these 3 girls that fought and undid stuff. I actually jump from scene to scene and then backtract. Well I am going to see what the heck this anime is all about and wait and see.

I haven't seen the anime yet (waiting for TAN), but I once saw a couple of illustrations from the light novels, and the brother's head was covered up in them. When I saw that his head was covered in the PV for the anime, I realized that it wasn't just unique to those few illustrations I saw. So it's not just Shaft's nonsense, it's the source material's nonsense as well. Whether his face will be revealed later on, I don't know (I only saw images from the start of the LN).

Hikkikomori is a shut in, so I am guessing the weird melty-fishbowl thing from her point of view is her agoraphobia acting up (just a guess). of course it could be her uncontrolled superpower starting up as well, the precursor to the world enchocolating...

So I was watching this and though, meh turned my head away for a few seconds and suddenly it's all out war on chocolate using every Manga weapon under the sun. Half expected to see a Choco-Gundam I'm probably going to keep watching until I figure out what the hell is going on

Sort of. ;) I find this show to be a bit similar to Bakemonogatari and Nisemonogatari. So, I think I might like it, but I'm still not sure if I'll follow this. I'll give it another episode.
