I'm so confused by the Chiba International School of Information Sciences students. They're presumably foreign-born. But they speak better Japanese than English? Yes, I get that English may also not be their native language, and that if they live in Japan, they're probably hearing more Japanese than English so that might make them better at it. But the International School probably also teaches all its classes in English.

Also, if their approach was to intimidate their opponents by appearing as so-scary foreigners, why go weeaboo and dress in traditional garb?

Because they are otaku as well.. LOL Notice that all they spoke about was that they loved this stuff as well and wanted to share their geek. They have always been outsiders even though they were born and raised in Japan. Their appearance alone will marginalize them. That said, they didn't know everything about the culture they have adopted as their own. Even something simple as them wearing the kimono wrong (that drove Kana batty LOL). It was also their very first tournament. And yes I've known plenty of International school kids who know a lot of English but still speak with an accent. It's more about the non-traditional education (meaning not the Japanese system) than anything else. It's not solely because you speak English.

Good episode, it's nice to see the first years really being part of the team. The match was really funny, it was nice of them to cheer them on for next year because they are so passionate about karuta.

The queen sure is a creeper

Chiba International School....usually an international schools in locations in Asia , English is the main language

I use to pass by an international school when I was a kid but was only up to Middle school and so when I started High School which was regarded back then with the highest standard , so most of them became my classmates but the attittude around them is the opposite to the Chihayafuru ......they were friendly and more mature but most of the students shun them a little becuase they couldnt speak the local language ,everyone was admiring their American english speech lol but they always become the center of attention .

Anyway, about Kanna, I find that part funny because I too would probably get distracted by that backwards hakama lol

Can anyone figure out what Kanna was wrtting on the white board , I can only see part of the sentence or maybe it they didnt finish writing it

Loved the ending when Arata appeared and the the Queen!
The episode was great as always, not that many funny scenes or epic moments but enjoyed it.

WAAAAAAAAAAA! Now I'm more interested in Arata's relationship with Shinobu-chan~♥

The episode was so enjoyable. I still can't believe that a Japanese traditional card game can this be AMAZING and interesting.
The suspense and excitement everytime they have a game is just amazing.

She was freaking out about the girl wearing her kimono wrong. She closed it the wrong way.. the way she was wearing it is how you are buried from what I'm told.. so Kana was trying to say something about how to wear it properly.. LOL

There you have it... They want to play them again and tell them how to wear their hakama... Not in burial fashion... Has to be left over right from your perspective for men and women, unlike here where men and women button their shirts on the opposite side.

Ahahahaahh though that crossed my mind I'm sure she didn't because it would be unbecoming of a lady to do so. LOL

What I was trying to say ...

Kanna wrote her note this way... "As for me, .... following put on the hakama ...." is missing a lot of english words words .

The sentence might look like this way " As for me, in the following year, please put on the hakama correctly ".... something like that perhaps... lol
