How can you not love momiji??? They're beautiful! For a second I did wonder if there was a hole in the roof however, but it was just in Chihaya's imagination...

Haha, yeah, I think it would've been even funnier if that guy had actually thanked Shinobu-chan for the snot and declared to her that he will never wash or remove his shirt ever again, lol. I think I remember seeing an ep of The Simpsons similar to that, although I think it might have been Bart's hand that he never washed again until like months later, lol.

Anyway, good ep, lookin' forward to the next!

Yes! Worth the wait Chihaya is up against someone with a unfair advantage annnnnd she gets hurt... But her passion helps her power though. Plus we got lots of Shinobu screen time! I loved the part where she was wondering if she knew Chihaya and then she misses the next card... That face! Like, "oh never mind, she sucks".... I laughed so hard...

Also I enjoyed it when all the guys stood up at once! It's much more fun when they're all fired up! Next episode, I can't wait!

Aahahahhahaha Couldn't find an online screencap of when they all looked at each other in disbelief but the simultaneous self slaps were hysterical! And juuuuuuuust as they were going to start again.. episode ended..

LOL Couldn't find an online screencap of the look on that guy's face when he realized he was just snotted.. ahahahhahaha can't believe people who write online reviews didn't think to screencap that.. I mean.. seriously..

Anyone catch how when Chihaya was freaking out internally she thought of Arata as a kid smiling back at her and she just .. stopped and calmed down? Ooooooooh if he was in the same room.. I wonder if the complexity of this match would have been different.

Chihaya had the image of young Arata when she thought of aitai kimochi , she definitely long to see him after many years...

But back to the unrequited friend ,I really like MIyano san work as Taichi.

He puts a lot of serious acting with this character and I really enjoy listening to his delivery . Its almost par with his work in Light's character in many ways

You know, sometimes before an episode of Chihayafuru, I think "Oh man, it's gonna be the same old come from behind routine again."

But when I get into a karuta match, I forget all of that and get carried away by the intensity, the ebb and flow, and the emotion of it all. I know this is nothing new, but it happens time after time, and I continue to be amazed again and again. This feeling is how you know you're watching a special, magical show.

Same here. I'm always surprised when an episode ends because I've been so engrossed in it it doesn't feel like very long at all. And then I just want to keep watching and watching. It's also visually very nice (I like the leaf!) When I watched season 1 and the first part of Season 2 I was catching up, and loved being able to go right into the next episode. Now that I'm caught up, there's always that bit of disappointment at having to wait. I really would love to have a Season 3--especially if they don't manage to get through the individual matches this season.

When I think of what I've actually watched that was focused on competitive games/sports, I realize that yeah, I'm a sucker for a good one. Hikaru no Go was my first, and I experienced a lot of the same feelings with that as I get from Chihayafuru. But I also really liked Kuroko no Basuke, and Giant Killing. At some point I'd started watching Saki but then got caught up with other things and never finished. I don't think I want to watch that alongside Chihayafuru, but now that I've figured this out about my tastes, it's back in my queue waiting for me.

I've read book 15 but I still find the anime to be completely engrossing. In fact I really do find I prefer the anime. They did a superb job, the adaptation is superior in almost every way IMO. They can do more in the manga in a way but to hear it, to see it, the colors, the animation, it is just so good!

Saki is good too. It will finally end in a few weeks. You think waiting a week is bad, waiting months between episodes is definitely worse!!!
