Not always!

Oh, and Hikaru was what hooked me, too...

It's one of few shows that I'm tempted to go back and re-watch. It made me want to learn Go, and for a while I did diligently practice with a little software program I found.

(To some extent Chihaya makes me want to learn karuta, but I don't have enough time or dedication to learn enough Japanese to make a start of it.)

I've read book 15 but I still find the anime to be completely engrossing. In fact I really do find I prefer the anime. They did a superb job, the adaptation is superior in almost every way IMO. They can do more in the manga in a way but to hear it, to see it, the colors, the animation, it is just so good!

That's good to hear . So far I'm still in the dark as to what happens since the scantilations haven't come out for this season's anime chapters. I do hope though they come here legally though. This is too good of a story to not bring over.

I don't read scanlations so I don't know where to get them but they seem to be almost caught up. I have read up to chapter 108 in book 20 and people on MAL have commented on up to chapter 105 and they never comment unless there are scanlations.

BE LOVE probably has more issues out so I bet it is up to chapter 110 by now but I don't read BE LOVE so I will have to wait for book 21, sigh...

I never thought I would be 43 episodes into an anime about a Japanese card game about 100 ancient poems and overall I have enjoyed the show. However, at the current snails pace of this story, there had better be enough popularity for a season 3 and 4, because I am a little tired of the team tournement storyline.

What I have been patiently waiting for is.......

Will Chihaya ever start a game without loosing 4 or 5 cards right off the hop, much less the game? Sheesh, it seems like she never wins against class A competitors.
Will Taichi ever suck it up and tell Chihaya that he has loved her since they were just kids?
Will we ever get to see Arata and his playing style? Seriously, I think he may have been in one tenth of the total episodes of both seasons.
Will we ever see any of these three main characters finally challenge a Master or Queen?

There are way too many issues up in the air right now and absolutely no way they will be resolved in the next half dozen episodes if there even is that many. Someone please tell me I am worrying too much.

That's funny.. the show is more popular now than it was on season 1.. LOL So I'm not sure what you are referring to that there won't be a season 3 or 4.. Tournament is what is saving this show since the whole season 1 was to set up for tournaments...

I honestly like the pace they have going. I think it'd be a shame if they rushed it.

It is true that before every new match I wonder what they'll do to flummox Chihaya this time, but once the match starts my cynicism is completely overwritten by what's going on thanks to how great the characters are.

I never said that there wouldn't be a season 3 or 4, but I also wouldn't be surprised if there wasn't, as I have lost count of how many anime series have just left me hanging and then having to try to read the manga. Which is okay for manga fans, but I am not into reading manga at all, it just doesn't do anything for me in the realm of entertainment.

Yup, I agree that there's no way everything can be resolved before this season ends. But I think with the way this whole series has been, I believe they will try to give us a happy ending, but the only way to do that, I think, would be to have at least another season. So, imo, I don't think u have to worry too much about there being so many things left open-ended.

Here's to hoping for some sort of closure on a few of the obvious issues that aren't settled yet. It would be nice if one of the issues I mentioned would be resloved at the end of this season.

Yea, I'd like to see Arata somewhere in this. That was my issue with season 1 and now it's the same thing over and over again. It's cool the team is gaining experience and etc... But I'm still annoyed.

Most of your questions are really long-term plot points for a story like this.

We should get to see Arata play in the next couple episodes, since the group matches are nearly over. I don't expect Chihaya to make it far in the Queens Match this year, but I could see Arata being the final challenger in the Kings Match if they decide to play it that way. And I'll predict Taichi's confession will be the cliffhanger at the end of the third season.

Yup, I expect this too; Arata already asked his parents to grant him a favor or whatever (back in the earlier part of this season) if he wins the individuals during this tournament. So I'm kind of expecting that to happen even before this season ends. I do wonder though how time they will spend on each of the individual matches. I'd imagine at first, it'll go by quick, but during the later rounds, it'll prolly be longer.

The fact that the manga is still ongoing points to those issues not being resolved before the end of Season 2.. so if that's all you are worried about then drop it now. I haven't read the manga either only bits and pieces of scantilated stuff to find out how far they are from the current anime season and we aren't even close.. (and the fact that the current season manga chapters never got scantilated.. ) The issue though you are having is being left with no resolution then I don't know what to tell ya. Chihaya's 2nd season seems to be more popular in Japan than the first because it actually has that tournament structure (and frankly thrives because of it) so I doubt there won't be a Season 3. Even so.. I doubt we won't see that until this time next year. If you can't wait that long though.. not sure what to tell ya. More fans actually appreciate this story structure a lot more than you do apparently. Which is a shame.. I think this season excels where Season 1 kept dragging.. and this coming from someone who marathons season 1 almost every other week because I loved it so much.
