Cool. We still have a few months until it comes out though I would suspect "something" will come out as to the actual nature of the story in a month or so. Still though should be interesting and worth noting given that it it still popular enough to warrant additional stories to be animated. That's good news!

I hope so! There was no OVA after season one. Occasionally an OVA is a death knell for a second season or third season in this case but there will still be so much more to go... I hope it is just the current fad of putting OVAs on the original material's next issue to really emphasize the tie in, "hey guys, this thing is based upon a manga you should buy!" especially since this one will not be available unbundled by the look of it. I thought 400000 copies of the manga per issue was pretty good but I guess they want more.

I'm curious why it's tied to the manga and not the Bluray of Season 2? Either way since it stands on it's own and not part of the manga (that we know of) I'm curious if more will come out. Sorta like what they did with Usagi Drop where they had 4 very small episodes with each anime volume.

Why a tie-in? To sell more manga. Why does Yahari/SNAFU have an OVA bundled with a game? To sell the game...

Chihayafuru 2 is being released in BD boxes. The first, with 12 episodes, is being released next week. The second has not yet been solicited but comes out in September with the final 13 episodes.

The first BD box comes with Daddy Bear and Snowmaru hand towels (so you can throw them at Taichi when he asks for them), event footage from a press conference, booklet, event ticket, part 1 of the both box gift that probably needs to be mailed from and to Japan, clean OP and ED and audio commentary but no bonus episodes. 12 episodes on 4 BDs.

The first season came out as individual BDs with no bonus episodes but disc 5 (IIRC) came with an event footage DVD and discs 8 and 9 came with audio drama CDs. Disc 9 came with a box for all 9 discs. All 9 discs came with bonus phone dangly things, one came with two: Daddy Bear and Snowmaru, the others came with the main characters with doubles of the younger versions of them plus illustration cards same as the DVD and leaflets. Most discs came with bonus "how to play karuta" videos and some had clean OP and EDs.

Soundtracks sold separately both seasons.

OK, my wife and I discovered Chiyahafuru only a month or so ago, and we're now caught up. Is there any other similar anime that we can binge on that Chiyahafuru fans recommend? The closest one I can think of is Hikaru no Go, but she was bored stiff by the first three episodes.

Have you seen Saki, Episode of Side-A? It is about Mahjong and while not the same it is also a sport/game based anime. I quite like it though it has a different feeling and tone than Chihayafuru.

QFT.

A few more episodes left. I wonder where will it be cut.

I hope it can still be extended until the end of the individuals match.

Ep 19 was another awesome ep! Besides the outcome of the match, I was very excited to see

Also, I wonder who won though between Hokuo and First Akashi Girls. I guess we'll prolly find out next week. I'll place my bets on Hokuo though.

I haven't read the manga, but I hope that they will breeze through the individual tournament relatively quickly. Only 5 episodes left this season and I'd like to see more story developments that aren't purely match related.

I did love this latest episode though.

OH. MY. GOSH. Definitely the best competition episode yet. The feels from the whole thing! Even if I knew the outcome from the manga, it was so tense and holy cow, I'm still breathless.
Wow, the episode got me tearing, gasping, cheering, and needing to remind myself to breathe too! >_< Can't handle. That was so good.
