Gotta see those cosplay pictures!

Sales are out, just first week so far but they are doing well, better than season 1! So far 3261 sales, would have been 3260 without me LOL. So along with the high manga sales I think it is only a matter of when for season 3, the discs are doing better than break even and advertising the manga too so I think it is a given we will get season 3, what season in 2014 or even winter 2015 I don't know...

I'm really glad it's doing well, it's a show that truly deserves to continue. How much material do they still have with the manga though? I feel like the show is probably catching up by now.

The show is in book 16 of the manga. I feel they will end it somewhere in book 17. Book 21 comes out next month, book 22 in September, assuming book 23 comes out in December that would not be quite enough material (6 books) for season 3 in Winter 2014 unless they want to go 1 cour or pace it a bit differently. Winter 2015 would be 9 books which is about what they've used for each of season 1 and 2 (assuming they end it where I think they will). If they really slow it down and only finish 16 books then 7 books (17-23) might be doable for season 3 in winter 2014.

I'm curious if they would extend it including that middle school thing as flashbacks with the kids if they don't have material by this time next year. Meaning I'm now used to Chihaya being yearly so if they don't have enough they can pad it with the light novel?

They seem to like flashbacks and musical sections and honestly, I don't mind them with this show! So if I was on the production committee I would say bring it out in Winter 2014 even if we only have 6-7 books and extend stuff or add more flashbacks. But I'm not on the committee so we'll just have to wait and see what they do...

Well obviously theehhehehe I mean in general I'm only aware of that one light novel. Are there more? Any idea if anything was announced that would add to that one book?

There have been two so far, not sure if they plan more. Here is the second one, came out in December:
http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/4063767515

I don't see any more listed by Kodansha at the moment:
http://kc.kodansha.co.jp/product/top.php/1234643528

Seems like it was on a three month release schedule if they'd planned for more but I don't think the novels sold that well, I never saw them in the sales outputs which means very low sales. Considering that the manga sells 400000 copies per issue it may have been a failed experiment.

Ahhhh okay. Thanks At this point I'd hope we get a season 3. While I hope it's sooner than later, I'm okay with it being the same time again even if they use these things to pad it.

I'm glad that we are likely to get a season 3, even if the pacing is a slow as it has been this season. Despite being slower, the episodes still zip by and I curse that I have to wait another week. So, this is still one of my favorite shows.

Rewatching more, episode 4 and the towel scene! Chihaya offering her Daddy Bear towel and Taichi takes it and uses it... such a wonderful scene! Even knowing what's coming this show is so beautiful with great music and voice acting, I can watch it again and again.

Indeed, I really feel sorry for Taichi watching these though I also wish he'd grow a pair and just ask her out!!!! Mixed signals or not he is really giving no signals and hoping she'll notice HIM!

Well from his perspective being completely honest means forcing an issue none of them seem ready for at the moment. Though I'd love for it to happen anyway.

Also he gives plenty of signals but Chihaya just doesn't know what to do about them, the last piece of cake on Chihaya's spoon for instance. She's so infatuated with karuta though that anything beyond that is white noise. Even her constant thoughts of Arata seem to stem from the fact he is a karuta idol and old friend and not that she's in love with him. She has probably been thinking about her feelings for both Taichi and Arata but we've not had any time outside of karuta to see that for a while.

Interesting that you brought that up about the cake on the spoon.. did you notice her reaction? Confusion.. wtf.. then Arata showed up and she forgot all about Taichi and started crying saying that because of this it was the best birthday ever. Sad for Taichi who saw the thing in slow motion as he tried to do something to get her attention away from the message she was just about to receive. Even his calculated attempt didn't work. Heck go back to the first episode.. "you were upset I have a girlfriend?.. it's not like we are..".. "I wonder if Arata has one now".. and then fast forward to THIS episode where Taichi just sees Arata as an enemy now.. I know Taichi shippers hate to see it.. but he really is petty.
