Chihaya sneaking up on Taichi and then falling asleep last week was incomprehensibly adorable.

I just think she's not sure what she thinks, and she's burying it with karuta.

And "Chihayafuru" is the first line of Chihaya's favorite card, but off the top of my head I forget what the translation is. I remember Arata pointing it out to her because it had her name when she first played karuta at his house.

Edit:

Nevermind, that's "Chihayaburu", so I'm back to having no idea.

But google tells me "-furu" means "to fall from the sky."

The meaning behind the poem doesn't actually make it clear at all it's ambiguous as to who it might refer to. It could mean Taichi, or it could mean Chihaya.

I knew this already

Manga and card meaning spoilers...

And yes, I have been marathoning season 2 starting over and it is great! I am enjoying it even more the second time!

Wasn't there something clever about the meaning of "impassionate" in the context of that verse?

You cheater

Well I guess I'll see how things play out but that doesn't really mean anything concrete about where the story will actually go, without context you can assume all sorts of things.

You're right, it doesn't mean anything actually happens. I simply said that it is stated because it makes sense with Kana's explanation of her card.

LOL Hey I didn't know either! However in terms of the title of the story it's been described twice. Once (by Kana) at her mother's kimono store when describing what the card meant and what each of the descriptions mean in regard to that one kimono with the river on it. (and why it's a sea red). Then with the famous 4th wall break in Season 2 where she went into actual description of movement. Then later with Arata's play was witnessed by Chihaya where she saw what a visual description of Chihayaburu looks like. Then tied again to her desire to be it. Then Arata mentioning how they share the same description while tying it to the story of Vega and Altair http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milky_Way_%28mythology%29#Eastern_Asia .

Yes, which is why I'm not sure even why I'm spoiler tagging it... should be pretty obvious by now. But still doesn't mean it will happen.

Book 21 comes out in 2 weeks, can't wait!

Oh you have no idea how hard I'm trying NOT to spoil myself. I had bits and pieces until I found out that the chapters in this current season were not scantilated. I don't know Japanese so it makes no sense to me to try to buy the manga for it. Goooooooood I hope they bring it out here. That said if it does conclude who she ends up with I doubt the series will continue.. I'm sure the mangaka will drag it out for all it's worth. As it is.. Chihaya is still pretty naive. I wouldn't be surprised if more than half of the people watching it aren't watching it for her but for the guys in the anime. I'm actually partial to Sudo lately.

Once unrequited love becomes real love, it does tend to bring the story to a close. Or Chihaya becoming Queen. I figure we have another year worth to go, their final year of high school. I would be surprised if it continues after that unless they follow her career into university.

The show succeeds on both sides as the gals and their beautiful kimonos with hakama, their wonderful seiyuu certainly keep me entertained beyond the already great story, music and the sounds of karuta. Seto Asami is one of my favorites, in Chihayafuru and Valvrave now and in Tari Tari where she also sings like in Chihaya; it's funny as I confuse Konatsu and Chihaya but not Shoko! Funny, Ai Kayano is in Chihaya and Valvrave too!

She should be 17 now, and from what she said, this would be their last team tournament together. I think it might end with her becoming Queen.

Why would it be their last team tournament?

Why would it be their last team tournament?

Chihaya's remark to Arata when they won the high school team nationals was that it is ONLY a high school event so that while you can become Queen/Master anytime, this is their only time to become team champions, while in high school. Kind of like when they were in primary school it was their last chance for the 3-person team event, in high school it is 5-person teams, after that it is just individuals. It is why she was so happy.

The wiki says she is 16 but that might have been season 1. I will check my manga and fanbook when I'm home...
