I sort of wonder what he's going to do now, though. Just being class A wasn't enough for him, or else he'd have just accepted his society leader's offer to progress him for getting 2nd in two tournaments.

I think rank A was really important to Taichi, but it was most important that he earn it himself. I think he felt like if he'd accepted to rank up under those circumstances it would've been a cop-out on his part and he wanted to prove he was capable of pulling it off himself. So it wasn't really just getting rank A that was important, but how he got it.

And now he's done it, and it's awesome.

There were two other things. He never really accepted that he was skilled, at least in comparison to Chihaya and Arata. He was second fiddle. And, more importantly, he lacked the drive to win. The tournament changed it for him. The team finals gave him the drive. The individual tournament let him find his style. And in the last match, he found his purpose.

He'd been pursuing Class A for so long, but mostly because he was living his own self-defeating prophecy. When he finally forgot about Class A, he achieved it. To see the shock on his face when he finally realized he reached Class A... priceless.

But, now we get back to the Class A finals. It was interesting to hear Arata's grandfather's style of play described as "nasty". And you can see a bit of that in Arata. This should be an awesome match.

Although it wasn't forgetting Class A entirely but rather it's his self-defeating perspective. It was only when he stopped with the comparisons and started focusing on what was in front of him, was he able to move forward. He had the conviction and the willingness to achieve that self-defeating prophecy should not stop him.

Anyway, I agree Arata's match would be awesome. I'm wondering whether they'll be extending the match up to episode 25. At the moment it feels really unpredictable and it can actually go both ways. But I'm leaning on Arata winning since that's the only way his promise to go to Tokyo would come true. It would also be interesting to see how the Queen would handle her first lost in a long while.

Agreed. Plus, he needs to get to Tokyo for two reasons: First, he needs to help Chihaya understand how to defeat Shinobu. Maybe Chihaya really needs to play left-handed? And second, he needs to be there to make the love-triangle complete. Not that Chihaya will notice. lol

Yeah I cant wait to see that part animated Arata vs Shinobu chan,

The manga was great but hearing the seiyuu and seeing the characters in action makes it awesome, but at least I dont have to stress out on not knowing what happens next

I agree about Taichi . He never though he was talented as the 2 , its just too bad we dont get to see ( yet ...) the future tournaments leading to the Meijin Queen Challenge.

Also about Arata kun, out of all the people there , he really wanted to play karuta against with is

Also I still cant get over Nakai san's Retro lol

Actually I am very interested in that myself too The look on the director's face was priceless.. it sent chills up his spine going "oh crap I remember being on the receiving end of that.." I am curious how much of those types of recollections will be prevalent on the next episode. It was interesting though seeing his face turn different .. he literally was channeling Sudo for half of what we saw. Then as Shinobu notices.. he flashes a smile just to get under her skin.. it's .. beautiful..

OMG THAT ENDING! AMAAAAAZING LOVE IT!
Can't believe only 2 episodes left and an OVA
I know I keep going on and asking if it's true to the manga and I hope it does to the very end.
But that latest episode! Brilliant stuff.

mmm OVA ...

If they follow the manga closely then there is got to be another season.

AS Hpulley said the next volume of the manga is coming and that would be the Meijin /Queen challenger elimination round from WEst and Eaterrn region and then the winner goes on and challenge the current Meijin and Queen.

Heh.. did the mistake of commenting on a blog post and was accused of being a d*ck rider* yeah.. never doing that again. I reaaaaaaaly can't stand Taichi shippers attacking Arata's actual playing ability. Geez.. anything to raise Taichi up I guess.

That's the main reason why I only participate in these forums: the intolerance on a lot of other sites is ridiculous. I'm glad we have, in general, a better class of commenter here.

Agreed. I understand the shipper wars but there's a civil way of talking about that. If nothing else that's a good indication that the show is so good that you would care for one side over the other so blindly. I happen to at least attempt to love all the characters and do (hell I'm a huge Sudo fan ahahahahha).. if anyone can find a good gif of Sudo's 100 finger flick I'd be eternally grateful

And Hpulley.. ooooooooooh if I can read Japanese... Enjoy!

If I could learn Japanese, anyone can!

Luck? I should have had it Friday but stopped on the way home and missed the package by 5 mins... Unlucky or stupid. Will not waste time next shipment!

Can't wait for season three is all I will say for now... Going to be a tough wait for it.

Well I can "hear" Japanese better than writing it. For anime purposes that's fine.. I'm not much of a manga person unless i"m going to try to cheat... LOL
