Just a heads up in case people wern't aware, but it seems that their is a manga under the name "Mondaijitachi ga isekai kara kuru SOU DESU YO? Z" that seems to follow the origanal series.

Not sure if it's the direct events or a side story but I figured I'd drop that tidbit.

Onto anime however? An OVA? I'm now once again really jelious of people who can speak Japanese.

Lets hope that there is a season two, that'll at least hit CR. (Maybe.)

Learn Japanese! Having the desire to read Mondaiji makes it a lot easier, having a goal. The manga would be easier to start with as the pictures tell half the story. Manga adaptations of novels are fairly common but they lag usually as much as the anime!

Someone asked if the light novel numbers were legit. These are light novel sales in first half of 2013 from 2ch:

Top 20 Light Novel Series:

*1 1,363,771 Sword Art Online
*2 413,489 Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei
*3 402,685 Hataraku Maou-sama!
*4 378,550 Date A Live
*5 376,904 Toaru Majutsu no Index NT
*6 374,472 Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai Kara kuru soudesu yo? (Problem Children)
*7 353,669 Yahari Ore no Seishun wa machigatteiru (SNAFU)
*8 238,010 Accel World
*9 210,447 Kagerou Days
10 210,033 Baka to Test to Shokanjuu
11 204,267 Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo
12 188,763 Ore no Kanojo to Osananajimi ga Shuraba Sugiru
13 171,567 Hentia Ouji to Warawanai Neko
14 165,983 Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai CONNECT*
15 162,974 Infinite Stratos
16 149,076 Shin Seitokai no Ichizon
17 130,383 Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance
18 100,427 GJ-bu
19 100,084 Hidan no Aria*
20 *99,101 High School DxD

Lots of anime adaptations in that list! Surprised "Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei" hasn't been animated yet. Otherwise we know most of the list here. Aside from SAO and Mahouka the top 3-6 are very close so Mondaiji is doing quite well overall as are Hataraku Maou-sama!, Date a Live, Index, Mondaiji, SNAFU/Yahari/Oregaru. Even Sakurasou at over 200000 is doing well.

Sales for full year 2012 were:
Series by series
*1, 2,764,454 Sword Art Online
*2, 2,067,369 Biblia Koshodou no Jiken Techou
*3, 1,033,906 Accel World
*4, *,767,236 Kotenbu Series
*5, *,696,322 Mahouka Koukou no Rettousei
*6, *,686,467 Toaru Majutsu no Index: New Testament
*7, *,674,520 Kuroko no Basket -Replace-
*8, *,654,224 Highschool DxD
*9, *,620,972 Boku wa Tomodachi ga Sukunai
10, *,544,507 Ore no Imouto ga Konnani Kawaii Wake ga Nai
11, *,450,794 Oda Nobuna no Yabou
12, *,447,053 Papa no Iukoto wo Kikinasai!
13, *,425,343 Hidan no Aria
14, *,411,380 Kokoro Connect
15, *,409,949 Kyoukaisenjou no Horizon
16, *,404,065 Kagerou Days
17, *,389,516 Another
18, *,372,821 Ookami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki
19, *,369,703 Haiyore! Nyaruko-san
20, *,349,496 Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu
21, *,300,996 Date A Live
22, *,278,103 Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo
23, *,277,048 Campione!
24, *,265,512 Onii-chan Dakedo Ai Sae Areba Kankeinai yo ne

So even the mighty SAO is way down from its anime pumped 2012 times. Time for season 2 one presumes...

Sakurasou is doing well in 2013, almost at 2012's full year numbers.

I wonder if we'll see Nyaruko-san come back with season 2?

Same goes for Oreimo with season 2 now there as it is absent on the 2013 first half.

It's a damn nightmare to adapt. Half of it is info dumps and the other half revolves around a brocon Mary Sue and a Gary Stu that lacks anything even resembling an outward personality. Half the show would need to be his inner monologues. The fight's are so short and poorly written it's almost funny(at least the early novels). The only reason I read the novel is because the support cast is interesting and actually has personality.

I haven't read it, I was just going by the sales figures but you're right. Not everything works in an adaptation...

How could you have seen it already? Or are you just going by the strawberries and cream teaser?

The manga is decent though. It's pretty simplistic and hasn't blown my mind in any category, but it's fun to read. They'd have to step up the characters a bit, but in general the protagonist's power and his place in the world is interesting.

The girl's uniforms are also sexy as hell, although I wouldn't call the manga particularly ecchi.

If I had a choice there's other things I'd rather see, but the manga works and I could see an anime doing alright.

I also like that they have sex appeal and fanservice without it being completely ridiculous like Aesthetica of a Rogue Hero. Ecchi is alright when it's alright, but the manga sidestepped it while still being appealing which I thought was nice.

I hate the brocon angle though. It's stupid.
