I'm aware of what stereotypes are. I just didn't know your ideas of what stereotypes are predominant in lgbt culture were that inaccurate and irrelevant.

do you think being gay gives you a lisp, makes you prance around and listen to show tunes?
that might be a little exaggerated but it is the stereotype that a lot of, especially younger, gay guys try to adhere to. its a sub culture type of thing or identity that identifies them as gay to other gays. that image isnt what makes a gay guy gay and the way he dresses or the the way he walks has nothing to do with his sexuality. those are just stereotypes that kids like you seem to think are important.

lgbt culture?
is that different from straight culture?
does a gay mexican have a different culture than a straight mexican?
how bout a gay russian? different than a straight russian?
what makes gay culture any different than straight culture?

go ahead, define the differences for us.

Are you really ignoring everything I said to focus on the term lgbt culture. Jesus christ go read more before you try and argue anything about lgbt issues anymore. People who identify as gay don't usually make up the stereotypes, it's straight people and the media that tries to portray/festishize them that do. But I don't care anymore and you probably don't either.

You're not defending anyone, you are just being trolled by an idiot. Anyone saying pan-sexuality is an "emo thing" is clearly retarded. Anyone replying so seriously is even more retarded.

I usually would agree with that, but I'd rather not ignore some asshole who keeps coming back to the thread to respond with bullshit logic. It certainly could've been handled better, but as far as I know, the topic was never completely irrelevant even if one side spewed the usual crap that minorities have to deal with all the time. Your comment was just as unnecessary as his, maybe even less, because it didn't present any challenges or insight into the topic. I'm immature because I still believe I can break down the points of the extreme opposition instead of ignoring or telling them to leave. You're still a passive aggressive bystander who could've just as easily ignored this argument since you're above responding to "retarded" posts; and since it didn't seem like you had any actual interest in the topic since you didnt respond to the other thoughtful posts but rather to my argument to mock us, i will say again to piss off.

I got a reply, yesh!

I'm sorry I tried to take you seriously. I should've known from every other expendable post you ever made that at least some retarded asshole can entertain me more than someone who believes they've won automatically by saying nothing. I will drop the dispute with him though so you can be free to post more insignificant comments without us in the way.

you clearly arent getting it.
and youre not defending anything. all youre doing is having a pitty party and patting each other on the back.

ive explained what im saying several times and you completely ignore it to focus on the use of the word stereotype and its negative connotations.

there are plenty of stereotypes in the gay community that are adhered to by gay people.
the butch lesbian, for example, is a gay stereotype that some lesbians feel they have to act out. there are lesbians who are attracted to the butch persona. acting the butch lesbian doesnt come from ones sexuality. its no different than acting goth. its a stereotype thats acted out by those who are gay.
same with the lisp in men. being gay doesnt give them a lisp, they choose to take on that persona. ive know plenty of gay guys with no lisp. in fact, the gays i know you wouldnt even know they are gay unless they tell you. the gays i know dont like acting out those stereotypes and false personas and they tend to not associate with those who do.
being gay doesnt change your outward appearance. your sense of style has nothing to do with your sexuality.

do you understand that?
no body ever forced a gay man to talk with a lisp and flop his wrist around. thats their own choice to do that.

now as far as kids in school deciding they are gay when they dont even know what sex, relationships, and sexuality are yet...
i thoroughly believe that kids, like you, decide they are some form of queer simply because they identify with some stereotype or another thats common in the gay community.

this is the forum for extended discussion, is it not?
do you want a discussion or do you just want everyone to come in here and pander to you while you cry in the corner or something?
discussions have multiple sides. welcome to a new point of view. glad you decided its invalid because you dont agree with it.

oh, and for the record, ive also heard of kids, like you, who claim to be gay untill they start having gay sex and decide they dont like it at all.

But there's no clear stereotypes for trans* people to latch onto except for some common misconceptions that cis people have about them and even for any other cases of lgbtq, the major issue is not with people mistaking their own identity because that can be a completely harmless and common teenage behavior but the way they're perceived by non-lgbtq people that forces them to hide away and become ashamed of themselves, such as your behavior of telling them they don't actually know anything about themselves and that overlooking their problem is the best way to solve it. You seem to understand the negative effects of stereotypes but completely miss the point on who develops these stereotypes and the actual victims of it. The only emotion I feel is complete disbelief at how delusional you came to be. Good job for recognizing that there are gay people who are real and don't all have the same attitudes/behaviors. Now if we can get past this extremely, idiotically basic observation then maybe you'd be able to have a thoughtful discussion. Having sex won't change my gender identity. If I like cats, having sex won't make me like dogs all of a sudden because it's a part of who I am and how other people relate to me doesn't matter. Maybe they decided they were queer because they were attracted to their own gender? Has that ever occurred to you that maybe people realized they are gay because they think they like their own gender. Or do you think all of them are sent a special pigeon with the message "congrats you're gay!" attached to it and that is the only way "real" gay people exist. I don't know why you think that a 16 year old can decide he's straight and no one will ever judge him but if he thinks he might be gay, he deserves a shitload of questioning and criticism because he can't have the capacity to know how being gay is like. I'm going to leave you to think about that for a while.

youre still completely missing what im saying.
i percieve you as someone who may or may not be gay/bi but who wants desperately to identify as someone who is. you come across as someone who wants to be part of some "special culture" of LBGT because you like they way its perceived (ie you like the stereotypes). you want so badly to be part of some community that you are willing to act a certain way so that you can identify your persona as LGBT. YOU are the one putting on a stereotype and acting how you think a LBGT should act. you are the one adhereing to what you perceive as the culture of LGBT and imitating some seterotype.
there are tons of kids who want to define themselves as LGBT so they put on the show of being part of the LGBT culture.

you were the one talking about LBGT culture.
you tell me what you think it is. define the culture. tell me what it means to you

You see, my friend Doryphoros told me some completely incorrect definition of pansexuality after reading THIS THREAD. I am Pansexual myself, and it just means you'll date any human being. Regardless of Gender, Race, Religion, Sexuality, Or anything else. You have a free mind. It could be an Italian Transvestite who was satanic and wanted a girlfriend, I'd date it. Pansexuality is pretty much a 0 Border thing.

I'm Pansexual. For me Pansexuality is the attraction to people of the binary and non-binary genders. Simple as that.
