According to many sources the PS4 will be all digital and get rid of second hand games (Used games) from the market which I think sucks since you can't let your friends borrow your games or buy used games from retail stores for a cheaper price than always buying new. I want your opinions on the new digital game system.

No there will still be video games to buy in your local store to keep that business alive, but yes! they are trying to get the entire market online.
It's the future of games/movies/music anything entertainment that comes out of your speakers and screens.
Don't worry too much about that, what you really should worry about is the death of the trading market.
They will make it impossible for games to run on more than 1 system.

I don't think it will work and they will be back to blu ray or whatever the next step up from blu ray happens to be.

I may not even bother with the PS4. We will see how it plays out.

Doesn't matter much to me. The only downside is I can't display them on my shelf.

I have seen articles about Sony buying some type of agreement to do that to their games. That they can only be bought new and would somehow sync with your system as a one time use. If someone else wanted to play that game, on their own personal system, it would not work at all. So selling games back would be completely worthless, along with letting a friend borrow it. I honestly think this is kind of messed up. A company like GameStop, that makes a killing from buying and selling used games, would sink quickly.

Also, as for the all digital copy part of video games, I also hate that aspect. I am the type of person that likes to have a physical copy. I have always been like that. Once books and movies started going digital I still bought the actual book and dvds. I do not like the idea of having everything on a hard-drive. At least if the hard drive crashes or whatever, it would just be my saved data. But with this system it would be the saved data and the whole entire game. It would be a major pain to re-install everything again.

Those are my thoughts. lol

Physical copies will always be an option. Its not like Sony isnt going to put the bluray player in the PS4, having marketed the PS3 as a media center as well as a gaming console. The natural evolution of the industry though will push more and more content online through services like PSN, XBOX Live, or Steam. But all digital doesnt seem very likely. I can see them making things like exclusives digital downloads only though, save for collectors editions and stuff like that.

It's too early for that. Physical media is still HUGE in Japan (you can even rent music CD's and comics). My prediction for the PS4 is that all of its games will be available online, but most major titles will still have disc releases. In countries that have heavily adopted online media, it might be only the biggest games that get disc releases.

when I think about it the only problem I have with the digital movement is that I don't feel like I own the game I spent money for.
Does this bother anyone else? i'll miss owning a physical copy of what I buy sure but that's the only problem I have.

I mean its already happening on psn with day one release. and there are games from japan that were released in america available digitally only.

One Piece pirate warriors and Tokyo Jungle are two examples of this.

There has been nothing confirmed. Sony has a patent for technology that would ALLOW them to do these things, but every single hardware manufacturer has dozens of patents that they haven't used just so that if they ever DO choose to use them they already have the tech patented.

As to the PSP Go, the PSP Go was a failure because it WASN'T all digital, it was just restricted. Too many titles weren't available at that time on the PSN so buying a Go was just saying 'I don't want access to every game'. Add to that that the PSP is the most pirate-friendly piece of hardware in gaming history... and you've got a recipe for failure.

I wouldn't mind an all-digital gaming system, just as long as they provide a huge hard drive to make sure you can keep all the games on there. I hate having to create more space on my PS3 for new DLC or installed games. Hopefully it wouldn't be too restrictive either with using your profile on a friend's gaming system.
