Hiking, mountaineering and rockclimbing

I haven't ever really gone hiking, just out of the blue. My country hasn't got the weather for it, though I have often been up in the mountains, never really gone up there to enjoy it, always been because I have had something to do up there <.<!
I don't think hiking is quite my thing, I may try it out once some time in the future... -.- |

I'm off to Denmark, so I wont be on CR for about 5 days, cya :)

Having said that, I've climbed numerous mountains, I'm a big fan of travelling, my mum takes me everywhere ever since I was little. I like the views atop a mountain and outside of a mountain. I love the fluffy clouds surrounding the top of a mountain. But I prefer something like hang gliding or water skiing... those are fun for me. |

Well, hiking might suit you in the future, everyone "grow" in different directions. Spoiler Alert! Picture time (as promised) A lot of images, and large ones, so i upload to imgur instead.
http://i.imgur.com/hLoL5.jpg Nordmarka, with 3 freinds; its mostly a hike for testing equipment, but it was fun as well. Beautiful place. http://i.imgur.com/VVI80.jpg In Bardufoss we stumbled upon a old WW2 entrenchment, nothing interesting inside, except for long tunnels and no light. Creepy. http://i.imgur.com/leJlD.jpg This is the hole we found on grønnfjell, for some reason i didn't have any better pictures of it. http://i.imgur.com/UVEKd.jpg Rødalen, image over rødvatnet and you see a part of the river delta/marsh. http://i.imgur.com/ohehF.jpg Here you can see the large glacier, called svartisen (black ice) http://i.imgur.com/iwCbD.jpg Random image, i like rivers. http://i.imgur.com/yjHAF.jpg Close to the top on a mountain called bottomfjellet. |

Love the fourth one. I'm a sucker for majestic pictures of mountains and unbroken wilderness (as you could probably guess from my own picture earlier in the forum ) Just wondering, are there many nice thick forests in Norway? A lot of those pictures look almost more like scrub land with a few trees... I'm curious about the country's geography. You're not so far north that you're beyond the tree line are you?! You can probably guess that my favourite part of hiking is the forest, but the view from the top definitely comes in close behind! |

I wish I could do those things like camping , road trips , hiking , plane rides...but I never did not one it seems fun though. Even though I spent most of my life cooped up in my home I always wanted to go and take a walk to the corner store or something but my mother would never let me leave the house..not even across the street. I mean I didn't live in a bad neighborhood they were few people dying in the area from "unfortunate events" but that happens everywhere and won't help her paranoia. When I'm able to do that stuff I'll do it when I get chance though

I grew up romping around the Appalachian Mountains. Haven't been hiking in years but I'd love to visit someplace like this. |

I love to go hiking especially when it's cold. I haven't done an overnight trip in a while but I try to get a day hike in every weekend. This past Saturday I hiked about 22 miles. The weather was fairly bitter (5 F with ~45 mph wind gusts) which made the trip pretty awesome. I also got to snowshoe for my first time that day (did about 5 mi with them on).

Honestly.
I hate hiking, I hate the outdoors, I hate everything about nature. May all the mosquitoes, spiders, and other pests burn by a wild fire. Na, I'm joking. I love camping. It really opens up my mind and I feel less stress after a weekend free of technology. |

Hiking is entertaining as long as it's in the wilderness! It's fun to relax and be with nature every once in a while

WOW. I thought I went to the wrong website. I hike, backpack, climb, go canyoneering, winter ascent with ice axe/crampons, run marathon, do ironman, and now doing ultra marathon (50mi, going to do Ultra Trail Mt Fuji and Angeles Crest 100 in 2013). And yes, I watch anime.

Some of those pictures are above the treeline, we have a lot of thick forests to. Our geography varies a bit, but most of it is mountain terrain, or close to the treeline, especially the more north you go. In Oslo, Akershus and around these areas, we have a more traditional forests. In southern part of Norway, the terrain is shaped after the coastline, and the forests are more spread out and many lakes. |

The excitement, the sweat produced and the pleasure being on top to look down at the the priceless view is what keeps me rocklimbing up. Grand Canyon is still a dream though.
