If you believed that nonsense that I just wrote, it just goes to show you how easy it is to get people to believe stupid things like that. I made it even more convincing by adding a bit of truth, spicing it up with some preconceived notions and a logical construction.

The Illuminati was a Bavarian "secret society" founded in 1776. It was an offshoot of the Freemasons"lodge in Bavaria and they kept secret, because their ideas were not politically acceptable at the time. When the Illuminati was founded, their ideals of liberalism, gender equality, republicanism, rationalism and free thought was very much against the ideals of the powers that be, such as the Monarchy and the church. They were suppressed in 1785 by the Bavarian government due to the Monarchy's fears that "secret societies" such as the Illuminati would spread their conspiratorial ideals and overthrow the government and subvert the Roman Catholic church. The conspiracy theory about the Illuminati sort of stems from 1) the founding of the United States (American Revolution) happening near the same time as the founding of the Illuminati and 2) The French Revolution, happening not too long after their suppression. Considering that both events purported similar ideals to that of the Illuminati, some of the more imaginative thinkers of the time believed that the Illuminati still existed in some form and was behind these events and was controlling the "revolutionary movement" from the shadows. In reality, the ideals of the Illuminati have been around long before the group was founded, as far back as the Renaissance, which revived many of the styles and thinking of ancient Greece and Rome.

The conspiracy theory of the Illuminati and their "New World Order" and how they are manipulating the world for their ends is a popular scare tactic and scapegoat that radical fundamentalists commonly use to scare the populace and their followers into believing that liberalism, globalism and rationalism is evil and will, in fact, make them into the slaves of the Illuminati. It's a bunch of BS that unfortunately too many people fall for, it's especially for those conservative fundamentalists and evangelicals.

Most of the "facts" is out of memory from classes way back when and some other stuff I read a while ago, so feel free to point out any mistakes. I probably made a few. Oh, and if you're one of those people that adamantly believe in all the Illuminati and New World Order stuff, I'm not gonna argue with you, I've learned long ago that arguing with someone who really believes in that stuff is completely pointless, considering any "facts" that I present are automatically misleading information that the Illuminati planted and spread through their control of the media and educational institutions.
