Tips on how to deal with trolls.

Stop reading their shit. Stop responding to their shit. Do not pass go do not collect £200.

Honestly, if people didn't take the internet seriously, the world will be a better place.

I love those funny trolls, but those who are straight out stupid and try to encourage rage or something like that, they are waste of space >.<

I don't think many people here get what an actual "troll" is.
A troll IS NOT somebody who disagrees with you.
A troll IS NOT someone who makes fun of you.
A troll IS NOT someone who points out all of your illogical fallacies.
A troll IS NOT a cyber bully.
A troll IS somebody who creates a controversial topic and then leaves to observe the mess they've made.

The only winning move against a troll is not to play.

If you're capable of being offended by trolls, you must be new to the internet and as immature as them.

You should probably move out, you won't fit in.

I believe their main objective is to receive the attention that they lack in their real lives. I happily oblige to giving them the attention that they crave, hoping that they do not feel as isolated from society as they did before.

Trolling? Trolling has unfortunately become the In thing, "all the cool kids do it." And it's a deplorable and selfish endeavour for the most part. However, given the topics and response to the topics you OP seem to create, "trolling" may not be what you think it is. Someone disagreeing with you or finding your point of view incompatible or erroneous, is not a troll, it's an individual in opposite to your point of view.

I have a feeling that you would consider me a "troll" simply because every topic I've replied on that you've created (not many by the way) I have not agreed with and/or expressly stated my contempt for the points of view you state or bring up. This doesn't make me a troll, regardless of how much you may dislike my answer, how much you may be offended, or may feel insulted by said answer. What would make me a troll is if I was intentionally derailing or aggravating a person and or group regardless of my point of view, to gain satisfaction at their anger, or misdirection of thought.

Have I ever trolled? In some ways yes, harmlessly. Maybe playing a game and tea bagged someone till they got angry, but in perspective, to me that's just a game, and if you took my gesture seriously, I don't think I'm the one with a problem. Maybe calling someone's choice of avatar in a game or social situation awkward, unfitting, or downright ugly. Which in a way is insulting and can be seen as rude, but trolling presumes some sort of harassment or planned stratagem, to which I do neither.

Trolling/Bullying.

With trolling becoming rather rampant, many think that bullying has become okay, leading to severe consequences, especially in regards to online harassment. Young and mentally vulnerable teenagers and children (Adults surely to) are being "trolled" into suicide, or self mutilation. This kind of behaviour is absolutely unnacceptable, and I feel persecution through the law should be a necessary step in punishing and curbing such behaviour (not through censorship of the internet however).

Long story short, Trolling isn't a black and white word, it's become a vague expression encompassing a wide range of behaviour. Asking such a broad question is a bit ludicrous in my opinion, but I answered how I felt necessary.

Best not to feed the trolls. They feed on attention, so I just ignore them. It doesn't solve the problem for everyone, but it works for me most of the time.

Here's some troll logic(TM):

Will this rustle someone's jimmies? If yes, post it. If not,- yes it will, now post it.

One thing I find amusing about talking about trolls is that people will often refer to trolls as 'others' as if they themselves have never trolled, never been sarcastic, and never ever got defensive on the internet.
Also the claim that trolls just want attention is....well, let's see, everybody who's ever posted ever has wanted attention in one form or another whether it be having a question answered, getting an explanation, or just introducing themselves. Certainly that doesn't make everyone a troll, does it? Else the only people who aren't trolls are the lurkers who never post.

So what about this post? Did I just troll? Or did I simply raise questions? What if these questions rustle your jimmies? What then?
