In my 2 cent opinion, the media reports on what is convenient and emotionally charged in order to keep your attention for the ads or to push an agenda. For a change of pace, try foreign news services instead for a while. At least the spin will be different.

I think the world is better. I know we all thing the world was better before but technology has defininitely improved things on all levels, granted there are still places that things are bad. Look back through history and take away the romantizism. how bad was the world when Caligula was emperor. How bad was the world when the Donner Party was stranded in the middle of the Rocky Mountains. How bad was the world when The Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor. How bad was the world when the Americans were about to invade Japan. Pick a time, anytime, it was bad but there was also good and there was hope and thats how we got to today and thats how we will get to tomorow.

No. The mainstream media is just one big lie.

^This....half-truths, and omissions. I don't watch anymore, except occasionally the weather. Made me a happier person.

That’s because reporters have begun to think of themselves as active participants instead of objective stenographers. Everything we read today has a bias for the sake of commercialism.

I don't think the world is as bad as it seems. The media makes a conscious and careful decision of what it wants to show, whether in news, commercials or tv shows. TV is a lie, for the most part, and generally nothing is worth watching. I don't watch the news, because it's so negative, and tv shows these days are so lame & disgusting. I mean, what's with glorifying teenage pregnancy and sex? The teenage pregnancy rate has gone up because people are slaves to the mainstream. And this is just one example of how stupid they want you to be. I think the only things that are worth watching are animated tv shows or anything nickelodeon, lol. Those still have imagination and positivity.

But yeah, the media has shaped a perspective of the world that they want us to believe and follow. We should stray away from that.

You dont have to watch the news to see the world for what it is. You have eyes and legs. Go outside and take a look. Not just in your front yard either. Remember believe none of what you hear and half of what you see. If you must see, witness it firsthand. I did. The world is not pretty but then...when has it ever been? Welcome to planet Earth.

You'll know the answer if you hear the same intro to every news story. Every station across the nation(sorry for the rhyme) uses the same exactly intro to certain stories, which isn't limited to any single network.

John Stewart and Steven Colbert love to make a video collage, whenever the media does it. You'll see around 20-30 reporters repeat the same catchy story intro.

There's nothing wrong with the world, just the multitudes of unpleasantness among people and repercussions of their choices.

If you actually think and pay attention for a moment instead of just hearing every single thing the media says, you'll know that they purposely with hold certain details (such as who some murderers are for example) and just hype things up and blow things out of proportion for the sake of ratings.

Instead of becoming the watchdogs, they've become just another arm of the government in the United States. I can go more into it, but I don't feel like dealing with people who can't think before speaking, and who'll just give me predictable talking points for responses.
