I think things are actually worse than the media would have us believe...

... I believe they strongly distract from real problems like the recent supreme court ruling for drug companies.

It happened on July 7, 2013 and will literally have profound effects on everyone in the United states, but it was never in national news because of that trial that I won't even mention.

The media is ultimately affected by the people. If people love it, they'll keep producing same or similar stuff.

Hell, just look at reality television.

Somewhere in the world today, a baby was born, the sun rose over a mountaintop, a kitten took its first clumsy steps, a beautiful song was heard for the first time, a young person earned their first paycheck or had their first kiss or made love (real honest-to-goodness love ) for the first time. Right now, there are sights and sounds and sensations in nature that are so sublime that they can't be described in words or captured in photographs, but when you experience them in real life the memory will bring a smile to your face in the darkest of days. The world abounds with joy and love and reasons to be glad you're alive, and our society with all its flaws has created wonders that should make you glad you're alive right now .

I suggest you go out and do some hands-on research. Then come back here and watch some anime.

Thanks to the media, we are now hated all around the world..you can guess where I'm from.. and I can't help my self thinking about these stuff and just get depressed over it.
Posted 7/17/13
Absolutely not. I won't just excuse all of the good things I see and hear about people doing regularly. Plus, not everything that happens has to involve something good or bad If people complain about the news being too depressing, it's probably because they know it is.

I think as Agira and many others.
Also this subject instantly makes me think about Deathnote. Since that anime is about punishing serious offenders right away, with the assistance of media.

Anyway i guess media and news reports follows the same pattern as anything else. Mainstream things suck (except for music) and alternative stuff is more ideal since it's possible to tailor things for yourself. Like where you get news from. Also a tip to find important news is to look at small corners in news papers. They often hide the actually interesting stuff, while the big fonted articles are about tragedies. It's like if media wants to paint the world as some sort of drama show that you can't do anything about since the stuff already has happened. It's too bad they don't report about active and ongoing things that you can join in on yourself. ...Well a few media channels actually do report about things that you can volunteer to.

I used to think that till I found out some interesting facts:

All media is controlled by 6 companies. They will never talk bad about each other.

Reality show are very cheap to produce. Actors, writers, props, costumes, and sets are all obsolete when filming a show based on 'real' people. There are some exceptions, but for the most part reality shows are cost effective especially if they are popular.

So we do watch a ton of crap, but if i had a choice I'd go back to watching TV if the History Channel still had documentaries on space, people, or nature in a heart beat.

Even today I watched a documentary on "the end of time" on you tube.

To be honest I can't remember the last time I looked at the new, though I am 100% sure that if I was to look I would see that someone has died a car/train/plane or something has crashed or some story which is bad, the news in my opinion shows mainly bad news and most the good news get overshadowed by it if they show any at all.

Eh, the world is as bad or as good as you make it. Just put on those rose-tinted glasses, pop in some music, crack open a nice cold can of soda, watch some anime, and the world seems awesome.

Nope, in reality the world is a much harsher place if you look in the correct places.

The world isn't good or bad. It is what it is. There are times when the balance tips to one side and tragedy becomes prevalent, and there are times when the world takes more of a tame feel to it. You can't get rid of one or the other though, regardless of how good or bad things get.

The world's young in the grand scheme, but it's still older than any of us. I think it'll be fine for awhile yet.

The media likes to focus on the bad with hints of good here and there, but in reality nothing they show is anything overly new. The world continues to turn whether we're aware of it or not.
