I both love and hate endings. Its always a shame having a really good anime end, but its much better than it dragging on for years and only releasing horrible episodes after a while. You get disappointed that its over, you mourn and then move on. Thats how the circle of anime should be.

Its quantity vs quality. Some longer anime have both but not all do. One of my favorite anime Yu Yu Hakusho has 112 episodes and still was great. I really dislike some anime that end around 12-13 episodes because they feel like they end just when the story gets good while super long anime is hard to get into later with all the extra episodes you have to watch to catch up. Two season anime 24-26 eps are really well paced and don't feel as crammed as single season anime but it all varies on the type of story and what pace it needs to be told; I'd hate to condense Yu Yu Hakusho but I'd love DBZ to shrink the number of episodes it took to cover a single battle. Overall length of anime has nothing to do with its quality.
