Oh my lord. Talk about a tease.

I initially saw "Magi" and "new season" and got a little too excited, then I looked at the title of the thread just a while longer and saw that it was indeed an old thread.

Da hell man.

Don't worry. I have faith there will be a third season of Magi. They did way too much setting up in the second season to drop it there. Plus, all the good stuff in the manga happens after the second season ends.

We had only a 6 month gap between the end of the first series and the start of the second, and in a bit more than a month, we'll be one year from when the second series ended.

The first series sold well (an average of 7,226 per volume), but the second series managed to average only 2,884. I'm not certain for the reason for the dramatic drop, but that would have to give the production committee pause about green lighting a third series.

As it was an evening anime, not a late night one, ratings would also factor in.

Unfortunately, "setting up" for another season only means the people writing and producing it planned for another series. It certainly doesn't mean they'll get one. I expect at least half the people that have posted in this thread could quickly cite several examples of series that left a clear path for a sequel, but never got it.

Well the Gap was so short because there was nearly enough Material in the Manga for 2 seasons when season 1 started. So they only really waited for a second season to let the manga finish up that one arc and then time to get it green lit. The manga has only just recently gotten to a possible new stopping point but since a majority of that is a flashback arc It might be better to wait a bit longer. It's a very important flashback but it's still a flashback and I think most people will immediately start saying they want the focus back on the main cast.
