I believe the 'ability to remove your account at anytime' is normal for any website. I imagine this step is reserved to only remove extreme cases as in gore/porn spammers and the general spambot crowd.

People say fucked up shit all the time on these forums and I've never seen overbearing moderators for the most part unless a thread gets so far off track it's basically 2 people arguing ad nauseum. Long sets of rules are there so people can't try to weasel out of being banned or whatnot for truly disruptive behavior.

I've never felt the need to censor myself on CR and honestly if it becomes an issue then I can just not post here, simple as that.

Maybe the rules are reminiscent of megalomaniac nerds who feel powerful when they're purposely using a large vocabulary to make fun of someone with learning difficulties over the internet...

...but they're not so bad.

This is my first post in a CR forum. I really just wanted to publicly thank CR for doing such a good job and offering such a wide variety of shows both animated and live action. As a side bit, I had seen some posts complaining about older shows, but honestly I love those too. I am so glad to be able to watch Galaxy 999, Captain Harlock, and others in their entirety.

But here is the real subject of this post. Since I had never posted here before, I thought I had better go look at the rules. So, I did. 5 hours later, when I thought I was done, I came across the Extended Rules. I realize all the factors. CR doesn't want to get sued, they want to run a clean/safe show or whatever. But I just wanted to mention that I have been going to online sites ever since the BBS days, and it never fails. The most overruled sites were almost always run by power obsessed people. It is also true that most of the best sites are run by people who have a few simple rules like "treat each other with respect" or "no flaming" or something. Again, yes we know this is your site and yes, we know you make the rules. But, we are people out here too...your customers. Some of us, myself included, are paying customers and don't appreciate talk about how easily or quickly our account can be deleted. In fact, I almost was afraid to post this (especially after the big clampdown at W*tp**nt).
So, to that end, you might want to rethink all this rule business and come up with a concise, clear, useful and minimal set of rules. Honestly, the only information I came away with after trying to read them is that CR will delete your posts or accounts for whatever reason suites their fancy. Is that really the image you want?

Once again, to be clear: I love CR and the wonderful programming it brings to me. To be able to watch so much Asian programming with good reliable subtitles and excellent quality video is such a joy. I chose CR over Funimation and other sources. That is why I felt I should say something.

bottom line here bro is that just because you pay doesn't make you exempt from the rules and you will be punished regardless

Eh, we're not so bad. It may be a bit long and intensive but we're really just stating the obvious.

All we're really asking for is to use common sense and respect one another. Problem is that many people don't. Or refuse to do it. The rules are there for the benefit of everyone. Read it and understand it. But honestly, if you have been around other online communities, it's pretty much standard fare.

The rules are stated bluntly and to the point. They're included in there because one time or another it has been an issue.

Trust me, there's been countless times where people would try to circumvent the rules or try to get away with something because, "Well, you didn't explicitly state that we couldn't do it.."

Posting things that are intentionally trying to upset or fool other users.

One example would be someone trying to explain why paedophilia is okay. 9 out of 10 cases that would lead to angry posts from upset users "yelling" at him for being disgusting and more.

That would count as flame-baiting, potentially trolling as well. The other users then end up flaming the flame-baiter for stating his honest/trolling opinion about paedophilia.

That's just one example though, but hopefully you understand now what it means.

edit:

If anyone is confused by the rules, or have a suggestion to them or anything similar - just throw any of us site moderators a PM.

You are most likely to get a response from me, Bjaker, starry, Bedlam, mochacafe and maybe thefinalword.

Ok, no offense bro, but I never said I should be exempt. I just think that rules should be clear (and no, they don't have to detail every little instance). It is easy to make an ambiguous rule and then effectively say "you know what I mean" or bend it to fit the instance. Or, maybe it is clear to the rule makers , but that clarity did not translate to the wording of the rule. I am not saying CR does that, I don't know. But you must see the problem. Imagine driving down the street and seeing a sign that said, "Do not speed." with no speed limit.
The only reason I mentioned money was because it puts everything in a much different situation than if you are just using a free site.

Thanks again for the input.

Just because it's 'the internet' does not mean that what you type didn't come from your head. If you are a complete jerk on the internet, guess what? you are a complete jerk.

Generally speaking, if a rule isn't spelled out, in it's entirety, people try to do something they KNOW is against the intents of the rules, but isn't explicitly stated. Then they argue that they did nothing wrong. This is a civil and social place, if you behave as a normal person would mingling in a group of strangers, you won't have any problems.

If being on the internet makes you think what you do has nothing to do with yourself and who you are, I've got some news for ya

There's really nothing wrong with the rules here. They're pretty fair and easy to follow. If you read the rules, why complain? Just don't do what the rules have stated and you won't receive a warning or a ban.

can you lift the ban on my account now please? Geeeeeeeeeeeeeez.
