I go to a school where... people don't even know what anime is, let alone Japanese culture. I do hide it around many people, but if I see an asian student THEN NOPE.

I do the same thing , I don't make it a priority to necessarily go out of my way to tell people that I watch anime when we're having a conversation. Unless of course, they're asian.

Pffft. I hide nothing. People like what they like, and they will either like ME or not.

I think I can relate to you. I keep watching anime a secret unless the person watches it to or they're friends and they ask. I don't bring up the subject of anime on my own, I wait for someone else to bring it up to make it less awkward for me hahaha. You could say that I take an approach similar to Kikusui and reserve anime for personal time and away from my social life in a way.

I do the same exact things!

Anime is like a penis. Its ok to be proud of it. But just don't be whipping it out in public and start waving it around.

Yeah, this is pretty close to my attitude to. I mean, hey, if you like it too, we have a conversation topic! If you don't, well, what was the point of me keeping it a secret!

Admittedly I'm pretty much like this with BL too. The way I see it, it's no different to me saying "I like reading romance novels". It's just, "I like reading romance novels, where two guys fall in love."

I don't really care if people know I watch anime.
But I don't usually tell people unless they ask.

I love anime so I'll watch it anywhere. I even have anime clothes that i love showing off. The only thing is when I'm in class(college) watching and everyone next to me is studying and I'm like man I should study more.

I don't talk about it all that much, and even then if asked I usually say I was watching cartoons. Anime fans just have to much of a terrible reputation around them that I don't want to be associated with.

Animation can create such great universes at the flick of a pencil. When people say "Anime is "gay" and "stupid" I tell them you like South Park right? Even though South Park is not an anime it is ANIMATED. What is so different to have a funny animated show (South Park) you like compared to an animated show about heroes having an adventure or one that explores human emotion? (Spice and Wolf) They are both drawn up from ideas and made into animated shows. The sexually open topics of certain anime shows may make some viewers uncomfortable but in my opinion that just shows Japan has accepted sexual topics in their culture, something that is still very explicit in the U.S.A. and therefore misrepresented in certain animes. That is my slice of cake.

Nope. I'm open about it. If they think I'm weird, then let them.

Ahhh good old identity crisis.

Yes I did once hide the fact that I watch Anime, but as I grew older I started to care less about it.
People can think whatever they want, it's no better than say... Drinking 3 times a week to party which oddly enough, doesn't degrade you in the eyes of society.

No, I definitely don't.
You wouldn't know from just seeing me on the street. My shoe collection rivals my video game collection. Which is nothing compared to my anime collection. Which so far, I haven't personally met anyone who has beat any of them in size. Or who has any of my game/anime related tattoos.

Just because we take care of our appearances, and enjoy other activities, doesn't mean we can't indulge ourselves in things we love.
And if they think I'm lame for the things I like, then I simply don't want to be their friend.

What tattoos do you have??

I have the Hylian Crest on the back of my neck.
1UP Mushroom on my wrist.
Sailor Moon`s Crisis Moon Compact in between my shoulder blades.
A black Moogle on my left foot. My best friend has a white Moogle on hers.
And Totoro on my arm.

I don't 'hide' it really. My closest friends and family know I like it. I just don't really walk around wearing a shirt of my favorite anime lol. Not that anythings wrong with that.
