To sum up everything: it is animal cruelty because it forces animals to fight and it's a bad influence on children. Obviously this is non-sense but it got more ridiculous when I read that it was originally PETA that 'waged war' on Pokemon for virtual animal cruelty

In both the anime and the games of pokemon though, they repeatedly show how the pokemon love fighting for their trainers, and it increases bonds blah blah blah. So it's all good there, but I suppose Team Rocket and all that basically do engage in animal cruelty lolololo. But then again, it does also repeatedly point out that they're wrong in doing that, and it makes them appear evil, so...it's possibly contributing to making animal abuse seem worse. So it really IS all good. Fuck you PETA.

I played Pokemon and watched it when I was little and it never once occurred to me it looked an animal except Pidgey, and the Pokemon don't actually die or get harmed except for the manga where Team Rocket cuts off Slowpoke's TAILS O.o and one guy in the game sold them for a short time, until the MC defeats them and the guy goes. But seriously? Stop taking thinking things seriously. Children are smarter than they are when it comes to judging things.

It's cute, fictional, pixelized critters in cute, fictional, barely even violent battles; I really doubt anyone honestly sees this as condoning animal abuse.

Well this subject is about little kids being affected, not young adults. I can understand that some kids could pick up some bad habits from that(on a tiny scale), but this is the parent`s responsibility. Offline	Permalink Reply Quote Posted 1/25/13 I played pokemon Red, Blue, yellow, ruby, sapphire and emerald, and animal abuse is something that disgust me, like completely revolting. if people abuse animals it's not because of pokemon, it's because they are fucked up mentally. there is no correlation between battling 2d pocket monsters and abusing an animal, IMO
