I enjoyed the series so much when I was a kid. They combined Disney and Final Fantasy into a great game. It use to be in my top five favorite games of all time but no I kinda despise the series now. Why you say, Well after Kingdom Hearts 2, I was hoping for a conclusion in the series that is Kingdom hearts 3.....well after prequel after prequel after prequel after prequel.. I just started to despise it. I bet there will be another prequel game coming....e.e Where the Hell is KH3 e.e Any thoughts of kingdom hearts?

Once I saw the 'secret' video, I knew that there were going to be endless backstory or new stories and stuff like that. All these new prequels and pov's don't really feel like they're building on the original story. Like any other monstrously popular franchise, they are going to milk it for all it's worth and put out game after game, and remakes for the newer platforms. That being said...I still played Birth by Sleep and Dream Drop Distance. These two weren't horrible games, it's just frustrating to know that the conclusion isn't in sight at all, and that so many new things have been added and twisty new developments that would open doors to new backstory or prequels (I still don't know what's going on!). As to KHIII...Well, I can't be sure but I heard a rumor that there was going to be a second BBS Spoiler Alert! Click to show or hide (it was also hinted at the end of DDD, from my interpretation of the message, but I could be wrong) , although how they're going to pull that off is beyond me.

With the first title, and to a lesser degree the second KH, they were well on their way to creating a franchise that could have pushed action RPG's into the mainstream. Instead they went backwards, cutting out the "whimsy" and adding buckets of backstory that no everyday gamer could possibly care about. I really think that's why they haven't announced or even hinted at a 3rd canonical title. They're so far up their own asses with building side stories and prequels, that I think they've forgotten why the original titles were great and popular. But there is a part of me that thinks they haven't forgot, but are confused as to what they should do next. They could go mainstream again and pull in a huge Disney influence. But I think they are afraid of losing all the niche gamers that have stuck with the new insane timeline.

Then the KH universe just rapidly expanded and I was too lazy to follow. I'll get that 1.5 Remix thing though. The first one was the best one for me.

Mostly I was just tired that you basically had to have every single freaking gaming system because each new game was on a different platform... or at least it felt like it. I would have loved a complete trilogy like they are going to do with FFXIII but alas... not to be.

Offline	Permalink Reply Quote Posted 4/15/13, edited 4/15/13 Multiple sources have said that KH:3D is the final game before KH3, which sets everything up for KH3. The problem is that the series creator has said on countless occasions that he does not want to begin production on Kingdom Hearts 3 until Final Fantasy Versus XIII is completed. Personally, I can wait a little bit longer to get the latest core Kingdom Hearts game on the next-gen console. Also I still have to fully complete BBS, 3D, and Re: Coded.....whoops. I'm waiting until 1.5 Remix comes out in the U.S in the fall. Then I will play through all of the games starting with 1.
