Would you rather live in Japan or where you live now? If so why?

There are some very small things I prefer about Japan. The main one being public transportation that doesn't SUCK. I could probably take a bus in Japan, without the worry that i'll get mugged like you have if you take the Durham bus, or any other bus here for that matter.

I would like to visit the country sometime, but to live there? Nope. I like where I'm at right now.

But of course the grass always seems greener on the other side.

I don't think I'd live there because of the high cost of living and even though I tend to despise my own country a lot, I'm not sure I want to permanently leave it because hey, there's no place like home. I would very much love to visit Japan as a tourist though.

I'd love to go live there for a few years, as well as quite a few other places. Maybe one day when I don't have the responsibilities I do I may just drop it all and see where I end up.

It is still a lot better than here. >_>

The grass is always greener... Especially when you're talking about a place that you've never been to...

I love living in Vegas, but honestly, it's no different than when I lived in Atlanta or New York.

There you go! An opinion from someone who actually lives in Japan.

What makes things better in the states than in Japan, in your opinion, If I may ask?

Yes I most certainly would, mainly because I'm convinced the entire US is going to collapse before too long

I would love to make an extended visit in the spring and fall and to have time to observe culture, scenery, and customs, and perhaps by doing so, expand my own horizons, and make myself a better person in the process, but I wouldn't want to live there permanently, no. Xenophobia is a universal human frailty, and no matter how cultured or polite the country, and how many friends and relationships you make there, you would never completely fit in. And as a couple of other posters mentioned, it would be quite difficult to find work, especially without having a fairly complete mastery of the language, both spoken and written.

most of you probably live in Ok places to begin with, I live in the middle of a shithole called england where it's just open fields and old ladies, Obviously I'd jump on the chance to live in Japan because I've never felt like I belonged in this country anyway... maybe If i grew up somewhere busy and vibrant and interesting I'd find it hard to move away for a long time, but I didn't so I don't.

TL;DR: no, visit, if I like it yes.

I wouldn't rather live there, I'd like to visit though, however living there isn't totally off my list, In my opinion, home is wherever you make it. So regardless of where you live, you have to make the most out of it, but in my travels to South America the feels are different everywhere. So in the end its a choice of which feel the best, or you fav.

[edit]
Also I would like to visit Okinawa and Hokkaido then head over to Tokyo and Kyoto. *puts stupid tourist clothes*
