If my work would bring me to Japan, sure. I love the country, even if it's hard to get recognized by the natives (but that's a problem in many nations).

I don't know if I could pick since I'm rooted to both America and Japan. I've lived there before and I can honestly say if you live in Tokyo you really don't even need Japanese. I can guarantee 75% or more of the people living there know English to a fair degree. Japan has a different culture ,a different way of thinking ,and a healthier way of eating. I like Virginia ,but I think I will be moving to Japan to take my Grandpa's restaurant.

I plan on going there for college but...I don't know if I want to. I mean, I love it and all but it's going to so different and I don't know if I can still be myself there. Would it still be the same to attend a convention?

It's really no different then going to a different city. |

Nope. Language barriers, moving costs, hospitals that close on evenings and weekends over there, the xenophobia that exists in Japan, and just plain liking where I live right now prevent me from having such fantasies. I wouldn't mind spending a holiday over there if I had the money, though (not like that'll ever happen).

To visit, yes, to live no. I've read a couple of articles that they make it quite difficult for foreigners to settle within their country.

Not sure, maybe for a bit. It would give me a chance to learn the language, and try their food.

I'd love to visit but I don't think I know enough about Japan to make a decision on living there. So I'd say no right now, New York isn't perfect but I like it here.

oh hell yeah! i would love to! but not only because it's japan even though i'm into anime and manga that bad.... it's just the idea of a completely different culture and another language, that idea is just exciting! i think humans are better at adapting to change than to adapting to a single environment for the rest of their lives oh and btw JAPANESE GIRL ARE TOTALLY HOT so thumbs up!

I lived in japan of over five years so I would just like to point out a few things.
1. It’s quite easy moving to japan and finding a job, they even have working holiday visas. 2. Japan is not expensive, I was paying 45000 yen($450) a month for rent. Try and find that in any major city in Australia. 3. Funnily enough Japan is a lot like what you see in anime. 4. Even if you speak the language fluently expect to be kept out socially. It’s very hard to get into a Japanese social group. 5. Be prepared to be surprised. What ATM's have holidays ![]() If you have any questions I’ll be happy to try and answer them. |

Yes. Japan is one of (if not the best) countries I have visited. It's everything you'd hope for, and more: at least in my opinion. If you are respectful of Japan and understand there is no 'better' or 'worse' about many such things, you are likely to agree.
I would happily live there. Watch this space. "Funnily enough Japan is a lot like what you see in anime." It's true! I'm glad someone said it. |

Thank you for mentioning that it is like anime. Now I can rest in peace knowing that the land of my dreams actually exists.

If I knew the language, I would probably.
