CATFISH!!!!
|
The craze came up after Manti Te'o hoax. Then I heard about the movie "Catfish" which came out in 2010 and last is Catfish: The TV show. This is how i found out about catfishing. I've watched a couple of episodes and I'm like.......
What do you guys think of catfishing? Have you done it or been duped? |

From what I can tell there are two types of people who do this.
First are those that are disatisfied with some aspect of themselves and create new personas to 'live' the lives they believe they could have had. Or those who do it maliciously to cause emotional distress to, or make fun of others. Either way, I got no sympathy for catfisher or catfishee. |

I think the show is phoney but its pitiful that people actually play pretend when theyre online dating.

Yea I seen the whole story about this...that's why I never allow myself to have feelings for some one online and I will NEVER EVER date online no matter how cute the girl is or how sweet she is and the amount of random pictures don't show proof to their real identity either. It's not worth a broken heart at the end of the day the person who fake their identity online for whatever reason to me is a worthless/creepy human being, because they refuse to be themselves and that person doesn't deserve a text, hi,bye, or any kind of contact from me. I find it a lot better to date cute-gorgeous women I can see in real life its way better...you don't have to type a kiss to them, but actually kiss them and other things
. I flirt with girls online, but that is how far it goes..these cat-fisher's can go on for years like I seen on the show a girl was in love with this guy for 3 years to find out that he was a SHE...for 3 years this worthless woman typed false messages. The pic they found of her was that of a emo/punk sadist looking woman who most likely did it for kicks...not even caring that the other person is super pissed, has a broken heart and trust issues as a result of the scam. Just about 3 weeks ago a "woman" (question mark) I met on an online game told me that she loved me only after talking to me for 3 days....we had some things in common and she seemed to keep my interest which is hard to do, so I told her that I liked her a lot as a friend , but I don't fall in love online and that it has to be someone I can see in real life-she asked for my phone number so we can text, I refused...never seen her online again...its just NOT worth the risk.Your heart and the love you have to give to someone is far too important to allow another receive it soo artificially and easy...it is true that with great risk there is sometimes great reward, but for me randomly falling in love with some one I cannot see is too big a risk. |

I've seen the show. In my opinion this isn't really about desperate people, or people looking to prank others. There are many out there that have failed at attempts in relationships and just are sincerely looking for someone to share their life with, and find common ground from someone afar, however it is sad that people have to resort to lies and fake stories to impress someone, but to be honest how does it differ to someone you meet in real life and not on the web? Sure it's easier to make up stories of yourself on the net in hopes one day someone will like you, but it's no different than people you form bonds with in everyday life whether it be a relative, co-worker, best friend.
I have met people online as friends and as relationships. I still have them as friends, and met a couple that turned into relationships. Everyone wants the same thing, acceptance, and love. So it just all depends on how the person goes about getting it. The show is interesting to watch due to the stories the people experience and the heartbreak you witness the person endures, but people still look for love and friendships on the net, the creator of the show looked for the same thing and decided to help others. |

I will make it through this year with a smile!

They'll make anything into a TV show these days. I guess I could be accused of it since I've been mistaken as a girl on other sites and don't correct them.
