Haiyore! Nyaruko-san. Never expected to find a moe-girl anime based off Lovercraft's works.

I can't believe someone just tried to sell that Steins;Gate is underrated

Bakuman:

Wow. This show was an instant hit with me after episode 2. The premise seemed odd, along with the pairing ( not to mention my dislike for general J.C. Staff animation & art ), but it had me marathon all 3 seasons in 2 days. Loved the characters, development was decent, and overall it didn't leave you with much lingering after it ended except for a few fine details about the love lives.

Welcome to the NHK:

This show was a hit hidden in disguise. I never thought about ever picking this anime up, and then all of a sudden my friend had said he rates NHK above clannad in his top 10. I instantly had to download it & was enticed at how relatable the characters were. You had the recluse who was afraid of being hurt, the vulnerable person who tries to help those in need, and even the person who cared at one point but got lazy & hooked on a bad habit. Music was beautiful, loved the melancholy tunes, and even though the animation was shotty in some scenes, it pulled through over-all.

Kokoro Connect:

Probably the best anime of the 2012 Fall/Winter season. The Michi Random OVA arc series just completely etched the anime into my top 10 for life. It's like they took what we really wanted to happen in a romdrom but with a supernatural interference. The ambiguous supernatural presence in the anime just set the characters personality & development over the top with some spectacular character interactions that you really wouldn't usually see since it's out of the norm. Loved it, will remain at number 4 on my top 10 until another contender comes along.

Mirai Nikki, and not in the conventional way. I was shocked by how well I understood Yuno from having watched only the first episode, and the adventure it took to confirm it.

Clannad- I was slightly put off by the look of the art style but it ended up being one of my favourite anime's ever.
Mirai Nikki- The twist at the end was really surprising.
Madoka Magica- I was unsure at first because I though, like everyone else, 'a magical girl anime? This'll probably be pretty sissy' and then I saw it was made by Shaft so I carried on watching and how dark it became kept me really interested.
Usagi Drop- I hate little kids but this was so heartwarming I really enjoyed it.

For me it would be Eden of the East, Yosuga no Sora, Infinite Stratos (Never really cared for Mecha anime but loved this one.), Kiss x Sis (first thought this was some kind of Hentai), Date A Live, Mahou Shoujo Madoka (Art style wasn't appealing at first but I sat down and watched the first couple of eps and enjoyed it).

Kiss X Sis is basically softcore hentai.

A Woman Called Fujiko Mine - I thought it would be super weird (what with the art style and the dull colour palate) and fanservice-y (boooooobs everywhere!), but it's actually really fun and entertaining and well worth the watch.

Angel Beats - somewhere in the middle it increases 50 bajillion levels in awesomeness.
