MIXI japanese social network
|
hello everyone,
i was a little bit curious about how Japanese people did with their social media. i found out they use a website called mixi that is as popular or maybe more popular than Facebook there in japan. my question is who here has a mixi? what do you think about it? is it worth it a try? |

It’s different, it not like Facebook. It’s more of a blogging site where you can up load photos and keep a diary. It’s worth a look if you are into those kinds of things. I’ve got an account I use it to keep in touch with my Japanese friends.

I don't know Japanese.

I can already control reality with my mind, banning me is pointless.

ok.... so after hours and hours of reloading i found out that unless you have a valid edu email or u have an official email from japan or a phone number from their provider u cant make a mixi account.
in some kind of way i understand why they do this..... on the other hand i think its kind a harsh for them to isolate themselves like this....i mean, making it so limited..... i still think that this would be awesome to be open so we could learn more about them and hell why not ? meet new people |

It really shouldn't come as a shock but I think people have this false notion of how things are over there. If you don't know Japanese Mixi would be a rather interesting experience considering theres little to no English on the site. Short of having a phone email that they accept you can get someone to invite you that is already a member. I used my Softbank email to get mine. |

I am on mixi! I've had the page since 2008 when I was really into learning Japanese, before I lived in Japan but I'm not very active on it anymore. So if an invite can help, let me know... My name on mixi is ハリー no point in giving a link as you can only see it if you're on mixi.
I have a moldy ameba page too... haven't updated it since 2008 either but here it is... http://ameblo.jp/harryiv/ |

Stay away from the forums, who am I kidding???

ameblo seems better for people who dont have a phone number in japan, defenitly can do the job of looking into jap communities =P
