Because it hadn't been done before. Frankly, I found it a refreshing change. I also liked that it didn't follow the predictable pattern of her simply being interested in using him, but beginning to develop feelings for him by the end of the series.

Dang...so the romance factor is extremely low in this anime? It still looks and sounds interesting either way but the romance factor would really hook me in lol.
