Do you keep weapons in your household? For self-defense or anything else?

There are no weapons in my house; or, at least, nothing kept with the intention of using it as a weapon. There are kitchen knives and tools and things. At no point have I ever felt like I needed a weapon.

If I was in a situation where I had to attack someone to defend myself, I would aim to incapacitate them in a nonfatal way. Realistically, though, that situation is a) unlikely in my home (seriously, the time and noise it would take for someone to force their way in here would give plenty of time for the police to show up) and b) if I was in that kind of situation outside my home, I'd be more focused on getting away instead. Very, very few people around here have any kind of ranged weapon, all it would take is putting distance between myself and them to be safe.

because that person is a criminal and I have a right to defend my person and property with force if anyone uses force against me.
are you really insinuating that if a person came to do harm to you or even kill you that you would just let them?

Why not try to get help to these mentally deranged people instead? Why do you feel the need to kill them?

I would absolutely let anybody kill me at any moment. In fact, I regularly tell anybody that hates me to come and kill me.

Thats not heroic, its just suicidal. If you ask me i would use a weapon to threaten first. Scare them into keeping their distance, then see if you can help them. Naturally if there was a high chance of me losing my life, and there was no means of escape, i would rather take their life. Its normal for humans to value their own lives over others.

Why do you value your own life over other lives?

Because my life is more important.

Listen, your logic fails on so many levels that you just sound like an idiot at this point. No sane person would let someone kill them in the way you describe.

In all honesty, you're the one who sounds like he needs help here. You seem to have little value in your own life.

I can say yes proudly, but only because minbe are either ornimental in nature or martal arts training gear.

If you mean REAL weapons, then no, illegal here sadly, but their have been times I wish I could have legaly pointed a gun at my sisters abusive ex-boyfreind when he was causing trouble at the door.
So it's probably a good thing that I lack one, I'd have used it even without him attacking first I'm sure and that level of bloodlust conserns me. So that kind of situation is probably worth bearing in mind as well as the legalities of owning one at all.

But the less said about that the better.

Because life is short and i want to enjoy it. I dont believe in an after life, so why should i let it end now? I wouldnt blame you if you valued your life more than mine. This is how reality is. You would save those dear to you over strangers.

What about everything that you have done uptil now? Haven't you already lived a meaningful life?
What haven't you done yet that warrants taking another person's life just to obtain it?

Guns give people the illusion of safety, when in actuality having guns so readily available makes people much more unsafe. Guns should be restricted to people that have a genuine need for them such as hunters, and automatic weapons should be forbidden. Then people should be subject to rigorous checks before being allowed to keep them. You might well be safe having your guns at home but when your family is out they are much more unsafe because of the laws that allow those guns.

That illusion has saved a lot of lives.

Well I haven't seen anything like this when I researched it. So.
Does anyone else keep weapons in there house? Why or why not?
Would you kill anyone if it was in fear of your life?
Do you believe guns should be aloud in the states?

Now I don't know about the rest of you ,but I consider self-defense important. I keep a AK-47 behind my door ,a .45 magnum under my pillow ,a double-barrel in my living room ,a .35 In my car ,and a P22 Walter on me in public. Followed my various other weapons in my house.

thats what im talking about, some crazy's up in alaska and kids that like car-hop late at night. I keep a .357 magnum under my pillow at night, a p22 walter like you, and of course i got some shot guns and rifles too, but i dont got no special machine guns

I guess to add to my comment.
I dont see the problem with owning a gun. But you dont need an assult rifle to defend your house.
Would i kill an intruder, i would fight and try and protect people in my house. But who knows how that would play out.
Im Canadian so this isnt a huge issue for me

Why is my life not more important?

Because you are a mortal, and will eventually die like the rest of us.

How does your logic not fail?

Because nobody is better than any other person. We are all equal, and should be treated equally.

Why wouldn't a sane person want to kill just to live?

Because the person you just killed could have easily been a future friend of yours, but you never gave them the chance to prove that they could change.

Nothing really intimidating.

A bolt-action .22 from 1924
A single shot bolt action .22 from before that
An extremely old 12 gauge break-barrel single shot shotgun
A double barrel 12 gauge shotgun

I only use them for shooting pests in the summer time. If for some reason somebody invaded my house I'd probably forget I even owned them.

no we are not all equal, everyone is born with different strengths and weaknesses, everyone has a different view on morality.

we are not talking about killing a random decent person...we are talking about taking the life of a person who busts down the door to our house and is trying to kill us so they can rape our family or steal from us. these are not people we would be friends with...ever, i couldn't care less if they could change in 10 years...the instant they use force against me and my property (from within my home), their life is forfeit.
