Do you keep weapons in your household? For self-defense or anything else?

I don't, I am a real man who doesn't need a weapon to defend himself.

That and my country isn't retarded.

Why do you value your lives so much that you would kill someone in order to retain them?
What makes you that much better than the other person?

What makes the man trying to kill me worth more?

Nobody is worth more, you are both equal.

So what do I do? let him kill me?

You try your best to disarm and restrain him, then call 911.

I keep a hunting knife in my car, very close to reach from the drivers seat.
Just in case shit goes down.

I'm saving to buy a glock.
Also in case shit goes down.

Guns give people the illusion of safety, when in actuality having guns so readily available makes people much more unsafe. Guns should be restricted to people that have a genuine need for them such as hunters, and automatic weapons should be forbidden. Then people should be subject to rigorous checks before being allowed to keep them. You might well be safe having your guns at home but when your family is out they are much more unsafe because of the laws that allow those guns.

I know what you mean. Many people think that if a person were to commit a murder, they could stop that person with a pistol in hand. But even if the potential criminal wielded only a knife, you wouldn't be able to notice until a few hundred milliseconds before that person thrusts it into the victim, especially if the victim is you. That's not enough time for you to unholster, click off the safety and chamber a round, much less aim and fire the weapon.

There are cases though where guns can stop potential murders. There have been many reported cases where off-duty or plain clothes police personnel have stopped hostage takers, hijackers or robbers in the middle of a hold-up using their service or personal firearms but these are cops, they have the training and presence of mind to use their firearms safely and efficiently.

Not just in my house, on my person everyday. I don't walk around without the ability to protect myself. Unless I'm going to some place where that isn't appropriate, like court or something.
