It's a ploy. It's a sham. It's a thinly-veiled attempt at ingratiating himself with these "victims," as well as drawing them out. Something to make them say, "Gee, finally a guy who understands my pain!" It's guaranteed to get a female response, and, as such, the female posters end up revealing themselves. From then on, they're on his radar.

Usually in situations like this, the guy then takes to privately messaging these girls, either commiserating further and playing the role of "The Understanding Nice Guy" in an attempt to do exactly what he's denouncing (albeit on the sly), or just building rapport and trying to ease into that later.

You see this a lot in MMORPGs, too. Guys will yell out things like, "Girls suck at this game," or, "Girls should always level cooking first," because it's a trap to get women to sound off.

Your best bet to avoid creepers on the internet as a girl -- don't show off, don't give out any personal information, and try to make sure your comments are gender neutral. Oh, and don't respond to threads like this. It's a trap.

That said, women aren't innocent, either. If the vast amount of camgirls out there are any indication, women are just as willing to show off (for profit/gain) as guys are willing to request it. It's... disappointing.

i think it would be more troublesome to actually worry about "creepers", why take all the precaution when girls could just not make a big fuss about it, its the internet what else would you expect?

Or even better: People could just not be "creepers", and females could be females without having to be cautious.

That's a possibility as well and it's the most likely possibility to be occurring on the internet.

Or even better: Girls could stop contributing sexually explicit material to the internet and swimming in the attention they receive for it.

If you truly have an issue with this however, next time you setup an account profile, set it to Male and enjoy a bit of tranquility.

if females can be females then men can be men, if men don't have to be cautious then it's not as if females have to either

I don't see why anyone, male or female, should be harassed for posting explicit material. Attention is one thing, harassment is another. People should be able to control themselves, and not immediately try to destroy a person for sharing explicit material.
The fact that women have to be known as males to be treated fairly is pretty disgusting. Though, as I said earlier, at the very least this site rarely gives trouble for females, so I think I'm happy and peaceful being known as a female today.

I'm sorry, did you even think before you typed that? Females can't be females, that's the problem. And men can't always be men, either. Females have to be cautious because people force them to be, men don't have to be nearly as cautious. That's the issue. Just because men can be less cautious does not mean women can't, and that's a problem.

Women are just asking to be pestered when they go around admiting they are female. What the hell are they thinking?

It isn't just the internet -- it's a reflection of how people really are, in real life. People are shitty. I wish women could use the internet freely without being harassed, but shitty people (people who look at bad behavior and say things like, "well, what do you expect?" -- as if there's nothing wrong with it) flock to anonymity in droves, and, as the saying goes, "you are who you are when no one's looking."

I know that's dangerously close to saying, "men can't help themselves," but it's not quite the same. I'll explain.

I'd wager a site that is predominately populated by underage kids (such as this one) is a common predator haunt. Most will masquerade as males or females who are also underage, in order to disarm, gain trust, and make it seem like it's just two kids fooling around.

Alright, armed with that information, it's less like saying, "men can't help themselves," and more like saying, "it's inadvisable to flash your money in a bad neighborhood."

It's not just women, though. Young boys can be victims, too. Taking precautions is good advice for anyone.

If you think the internet is harmless, it's because someone hasn't shown you how dangerous it can be. I hope you never have to find out otherwise.

I don't see why anyone, male or female, should have to suffer in ANY way in this world, but it's an imperfect place full of imperfect people.

Instead of focusing on a problem you can't solve or are unwilling to devote yourself to solving, you can avoid the problem entirely and go on with your life.

You have the option, it's there if you want it. If you take pleasure in debating it however and taking displeasure in it's existence, strife IS the spice of life. So sprinkle it on and enjoy.

MountainMew is absolutely correct, a girl shouldn't get harassed online just because of the content they share. We need to teach boys how to behave and not condone their despicable behavior.

the internet IS dangerous, that is if you don't know how to use it correctly, my point is if people dislike the things that they dislike then they should do something for themselves about it, people shouldn't be biased about the situation in whole
