At the beginning of a season is when I'm more likely to be watching a lot of different shows in one day, since I try to see the first few episodes of most of the new shows in a season--then I cull them. This weekend was kind of tough that way because I'd been too busy to watch much so had a pretty big backlog to get through to get up to date on simulcasts so I could decide which I wanted to continue watching over the rest of the season, and I set aside most of the weekend to do that. I don't usually get the shows confused but there was one instance in which I had a thought while watching one show, then realized what I was thinking related to the one I'd seen just before it.
But it is pretty normal for me to see two or three different shows in one day. I kind of have a system, which seems to keep everything from getting too confused: Morning commute to work - I usually watch one episode of some catalogue title on my iPhone. Currently that's Moyashimon. Several evenings after work - I usually watch the latest simulcasts in my queue. That might be from one or two series. If it's more, I'm probably going to put something off to another day. (After culling I usually end up with oh, 3 to 6 regular length simulcasts that I continue to watch, as well as a few of the 3-minute shows). Just before bed - it depends. Sometimes it's one of the simulcasts, but most often it's some other catalogue title and I'll watch 2 to three episodes in a row. From time to time I'll get hooked on a K-drama, and that will fill this slot instead. And sometimes, *gasp*, I just read a book! Weekends - catch up on simulcasts if I'm behind. Watch other stuff (often multiple episodes from just one series) as the mood strikes if I have the time. |

hooraybeer wrote: Ever since I began watching anime religiously, I watched multiple shows. As someone said, it passes the time really well and I had quite a bit of it. I only watch "1" show if it's complete and I have the show at my expense to watch in one go. Even then after 4-5 I would go do something else. I just can't be tied down to one show since there are so many shows out there with such a variety of aspects to entice me to watch. I used to follow up to 30 shows at a time, watching at least one episode a week. Now I don't want to watch any more than 5 shows at once now. I barely even marathon stuff anymore. Burnout can do this to you. If you're going to watch anime, please don't repeat my mistakes and watch so much anime at a time. Go to a bar or a club and meet some girls/guys! |

And here I thought I had a big backlog of animes to watch and currently watching,
So far I'm watching 16 animes that are still running. |

I have my main anime and then the base anime. I have the regularly scheduled ones ( 1 or 2 a day) which are the mains ones:
HxH, Shin Sekai Yori, Naruto, Kotoura-san, Blast of Tempest, Maoyu, Uchu Kyodai(Space Brothers), Magi, and Pet Girl of Sakurasou When there's that gap I turn to some of those longer ones. I just finished Katekyo Hitman Reborn and am now on Gintama. Great shows for filling the gap. Since Gintama is on-going, I'll eventually have to pick up another one adding to the list. Probably and to my dismay, Fairy Tale. But we'll see after I give it a try. I recently just finished the JDrama My Little Nightmare, which was a little corny but good. So those might start getting mixed in. |

I finally have a semi-OK profile thanks to the addition of pics!

For airing shows, watching multiple things at once is easy + especially if they air on different days. I do agree for when I have two completed series available to me. I have never once watched them at the same time by juggling episodes. If I like a completed show enough, I'd go straight through and if I didn't like it I would have dropped it.

I don't get this question... is it really that hard? I have 8 simulcasts I'm watching right now. It's not like they're all on at the same time or the same day for that matter.

Generally I watch 2 to 3 simulcast series and 1 older one. Like others have said I prefer some variaty while watching. While marathoning is okay to me for shorter series I can't do it with longer series like Gintama. Me and my brother took around a year to get through the 200+ episodes while watching other shorter titles along side. Right now I am watching Kotoura, , Chihayafuru, and Gintama simulcasts while watching Hakuoki for the first time.
Personally I find even the best shows I watch tough to marathon if they over 40+ episodes as I need some variety. Perfect example to me is that a year ago I was watching Monster for the first time. Lovedd the show a lot but it was so long I needed a change of pace. So I switched between Monster and Darker Than Black and enjoyed both more than I would have. |
