I was wondering if anyone practiced this art and what they believe it does.

Some believe that they meditate whenever they're doing what they love, e.g. singing, driving, video games.

Some perform it with complete void of thought. Peace.

I add visualizations and intent whenever I meditate.

As above, so below.

Why meditate? It's basically doing nothing. Why do nothing when you can do something productive. Like posting on forums.

I meditate right after I wake up...

It really relaxes me and gets rid of most headaches.

Nah I dont do that I just go on long ass rage rants about how most things are really stupid and how it makes my life a living hell. Really works for anything people, work, school, or whatever is just pissing you off at the time. Ranting on about random shit is where it is at. Some people might think you are a idiot or something but its so refreshing just to blow up when your butter knife falls on the floor . People are like "Good god what the hell happened to that guy?" and then you rant the shit out of that knife... I swear by it.

Yes I used to, people underestimate how therapeutic it is, It's not just about relieving stress and being calm it's extremely good to feel complete with yourself, it helps you let go of your ego and is definitely something people should try, preferably without music and light and stuff for the first few times.

I do not meditate, none in the least. But, I do see the reason for it.

Keeping a cool head, and thinking stuff out. More often than acting on pure guts. Can cause one to be more rational, than violent. I personally think everyone should have a way to maintain a cool head, most of the time. So, they can think stuff out more often than not. But, you / everyone has their moments of insanity....even I am no expectation xD

I do it, sort of. It's kinda hard to explain but I'll try anyway.

I worry too much about other peoples problems, which tends to stress me out and/or get me down because really there's nothing I can do as it's not my problem to begin with.

So, a few years ago I took up the habit of "centering" myself whenever I notice I'm thinking too much on pointless stuff that has nothing to do with me.
Basically I take a moment to sit down and introspect "where" I am, what's on my mind and how much of it actually concerns me in some way or other. Once this gets me to the conclusion that something isn't my problem I'll still feel sorry for whoever it actually concerns but the whole thing is off my mind. It also helps me overcome anxiety as I usually see that there's nothing to be afraid of.

I've dabbled with meditation a few times in my life - and I've truly felt what I could describe as the "effects" twice.

Once was after I did something very intense for the first time. It was something I was scared, slightly embarrassed about and involved speaking in front of a large audience very honestly. When I finished, I could not remember what I had even said. When I got home that evening, I sat down in the dark in front of the fireplace that still had embers crackling and meditated for a few minutes. I was able to completely lose track of my conscious thoughts very briefly and when I opened my eyes I had a feeling of calm that I've never been able to reproduce since. It was an incredible experience.

The second was during a sunrise group meditation with some friends, feeling the sun rise on the beach and listening to the waves - it was also fairly powerful but I wasn't quite as empty minded during that - more focused on sounds and smells.
