I don't see why you would want to spend money on something you can't do anything with.

If you want to get into buying figma you should have a look through this guide.
It's a damn expensive hobby to get into.

Oh, you mean these?
Yea, I got them at Ohayocon for $160. Only ones on the dealer's floor. Buy figures that you know you want. Personally, I like ones that are pose-able. Gives me more bang for my buck.

You can stare at it.

Here's how they look in box (and still in box) I might take them out soon. Or, I might sell them. Leon herself goes for more than $100. Unless it's coming out of Hong Kong, then it's $50, but really sketchy. Both look great. Truth be told, these were my first figures too. Now, I can't wait to get more.

But I can do that with porn, and that's free.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

amiami.com is a great site, but I don't know if they can ship outside japan for some figures (Leon and Milli don't) Actually the latest Daily Deals on Crunchyroll offer imports that are better priced then Amiami. Hit them up if you can and want too.

And if you are only getting figures to stare at them, I wouldn't bother. Sure, there are great figures for that (Beach Queens line specializes in it) but I just like them at a tribute to my favorite shows. I don't go for the whole sexy bishoujo figure thing.

I like them, because they are poseable and have multiple faces and accessories. If you have several, you can do some pretty hilarious setups with them.

As far as the negatives, they are smaller than your typical 1/8, 1/10, etc. figures that are in fixed poses. Also, I would not immediately buy one based off the fact that it's a character you like. Take some time to check out detailed images on the web to see if you like it. I've seen a couple that had some goofy faces that didn't really seem to match the show. I think that there are some Figmas that have some awkward looking joints as well.

Damn, sounds like I'm going on and on about the negatives, but I really do like them! I have 8 or 9 (with a couple more on pre-order).

I agree with ChinkyD. Make sure you look at plenty of photos before you buy, or wait to see them in person at a con. Again, amiami is great just for browsing photos and all the kinds of poses the figures can do.

I still consider myself a dilletante figure collector, even though I think I have 40-50 now, ranging from mini ("puchi") nendoroids to 1/6 scale figures. This is a testament to how potentally addicting and expensive this hobby can be (maybe I'll just buy one... Ok, maybe just one more... Before you know it, you've spent literally thousands of dollars.), as others have mentioned.

It's pretty much up to you whether the price is worth it or not. Sites like amiami and HLJ are based in Japan and ship from there, and both show multiple pictures of the figure (typically a prototype) from various angles, and with accessories if the figure comes with any, and so you can get a decent idea of what it should look like before you buy. They've a reputation for selling genuine products too (i.e. not bootlegs). I like Figmas myself as they're relatively inexpensive as figures go, and are posable and typically come with accessories (at minimum, hands and faces, but often also weapons and other props associated with the character). They also come with a stand with which to pose/display the figure. They seem to be good likenesses of the characters too, and are not so large that shipping isn't too big a surcharge.

If you're REALLY hardcore you can make your own. I have a friend that designs toys for a living, so him and I are going to get a 3D printer, create some molds for the PVC, and do a little research on how the figures are made. Sounds ambitious, but if it all works out, I'll have figures from shows that no one else has.
Course, I really don't think it will pan out, but a guy can dream, right?
