Were I a man of exorbitant wealth, I would indulge myself in figmas. But I am not, so I stick to hobbies than mean the most to me. Such as gaming, movies, anime, and comics.

I'm worried I might start doing the figure thing soon. Some look really amazing, it's been hard to not get things like wall scrolls and figures lately. I think I just would just feel too otaku if I start getting display items(personal feelings, not knocking the people that enjoy them). The good thing is most figures are so expensive that I can safely disregard them.

I went through that phase too. Now I own several figmas and figures and I like them. Yes it can get expensive but that serves to limit the size of my collection and forces me to ask myself if I'm really sure I want that figure that I'm considering. If you have no self-control whatsoever, stay far away. Other than that go for it.

I collect very few figmas because those exposed joints on the arms and legs which are necessary for shelf posing flexibility just look odd aesthetically. Looking at this engineering of physical "atrophy" just drives me nuts. What I do collect are 1/8 PVC caricatures of some of my favorited anime characters. AmiAmi, just take all my money! After procrastinating too long about buying Madara from the series Natsume Yuujinchou, an Ichiban Kuji prize , from Plamoya because I thought the price was too high I was enthralled to get another chance to pick him up at AmiAmi for about $20 less, never mind that it was 3am where I lived combing all these sites feverishly weeks at a time looking for loot, new or pre-owned. January's bill from AmiAmi alone will cost........better not, if my wife sees this figure I'll sure be in hot water for awhile.

I used to collect action figures that hardly moved. They were basically 7 inch tall high quality and inexpensive statues.

Ok, since my last post, I've already pre-ordered two more other figmas TT^TT : TV Gold Saw and Dead Master, cause I am so afraid of their after market prices. Debating on getting Hunter x Hunter Gon figma too but...for that one I think I may have a chance finding him second hand on Mandarake for a reasonable price *fingers crossed*

Yeah....as some of the others have said, if you don't have control, I'd suggest to stay away from the hobby TT^TT

I do buy figures but only ones that have true attention to detail.

The figure on the left is of Lina Inverse wearing her outfit from Slayers Next and onwards

The figure on the right is Canal Vorfeed from lost universe - not painted (same voice actress as Lina)

The Lina figure is the best I have ever seen from the Slayers series. Supreme attention to detail. There's a catch with these figures. They come in pieces. Lots of pieces and not painted. That one is some ones handy work. If only I had the skill I would buy one right now and put it together and paint it.

i guess whatever rocks your boat. you are the one that will be spending the money so if it makes you happy doing that go for it. I personally would never buy them.

as a kid i used to play with stuff like this https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B8E8h_yV-7YxZjlnZXZHTEZjLVk/edit but as a grown man... well lets just say there are better things to do with your time and money. (now i know you are not quite a grown man at all heck your profile says you are 16 so you are basically a kid.)

watching anime to relax once in a while its not a bad thing at all. obsessing over an anime too much to the point of eating up all the marketing ploys is.

I don't own any figmas, but i do own some other figurines. Like Nendoroids, and nendoroid petites (tiny nendoroids). Mainly because i like the chibi/deformed style on the characters. Recently I've had an increased interest in PVC 1/8 scale figurines. So i have two on pre-order (Kiritsugu and Saber from Fate/Zero). And one figurine on my shelf, Togame from Katanagatari. Actually, here's an gallery of most of my figurines, just for the sake of refferences.

I only buy the figurines i really want, and I've yet to buy figurines i regret buying. Hopefully i won't have to either.
