American voice actors suck. Watching dubbed anime is like drinking instant coffee - I only do it when I have no other option, and I bitch about it the whole time.
After watching enough subbed anime you begin to learn common phrases and can pick out the meanings of some dialog without reading the translation, or make sense of confusing translations. Also, a good translation will include notes on wordplay, which I find interesting and fun. |

Rurouni Kenshin english dub was good only because I could not stand Kenshin's voice for subbed. But like every one mentioned before Baccano, FMA and Cowboy Bebop.

Exijun wrote: Many people disagree with this but I think the Naruto English voice actors are quite good. Its probably because I started with it on Toonami and when I try and watched subbed it is just not the same. Same here, bro. I started watching when it first came on toonami and I thought it was amazing! But after the english episodes got behind I went ahead and watched the Japanese subs. Ever since then I can't go back to the dub even though I used to think it was pretty good. The only cases where I can't see the anime without english voices are three: 1. Cowboy Bebop 2. Samurai Champloo 3. Fullmetal Alchemist (both series) ...something about having the original japanese voices just seem right tho. It never fails lol. |

I prefer subs, but a few that i watch dubbed are DBZ, Vandread, Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Trigun, .Hack//sign, and even Gundam. However, many dubs are just really bad... Take for example, Baka and Test. i couldn't make it though the first 5 mins watching it dubbed because it was so bad.

Unless the dubbing is terrible or it changes plot/characters (Sailor Moon, just Sailor Moon) then I generally prefer the dubbed version as most Japanese voice actors just sound flat and/or effeminate to me.
I will give special credit to the dubs of Baccano!, Yu Yu Hakusho, and both versions of Hellsing though. The dubs of those series just blow the original ones out of the water, especially Baccano! where the accents add a whole new level to the show. |

If I had a type it'd be you, fortunately I don't have a type so please stop.
