I wish anime was in cinemas. I'm hoping the next ghibli makes it to a local cinema, just so I can say I've watched one on the big screen. The only prob is it'll only be a few weeks before it's on bluray.

Besides studio Ghibli movies, I've seen a couple in theaters. From time to time they have a Fathom Events run of an anime movie. Doesn't happen often though

It has to be popular so they don't waste money putting it in the theatre. Now they do put Miyazaki's movies in the theatre. Check them out if you havn't already His older ones are better. |

Not many people outwardly show that they like anime at all, so it's unlikely for theaters to show anime movies. Plus, take into mind how little anime are registered and legal in America, U.K., Canada, etc.
